Job · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Job 11

Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said, 1

Should not the multitude of words be answered? 1 And should a man full of talk be justified? 1

Should thy lies make men hold their peace? 1 And when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed? 1

For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, 1 And I am clean in thine eyes. 1

But O that God would speak, 1 And open his lips against thee; 1

And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, 1 That they are double to that which is. 1 Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth. 1

Canst thou by searching find out God? 1 Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? 1

It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? 1 Deeper than hell; what canst thou know? 1

The measure thereof is longer than the earth, 1 And broader than the sea. 1

If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, 1 Then who can hinder him? 1

For he knoweth vain men: 1 He seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it? 1

For vain man would be wise, 1 Though man be born like a wild ass’s colt. 1

If thou prepare thine heart, 1 And stretch out thine hands toward him; 1

If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, 1 And let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles. 1

For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; 1 Yea, thou shalt be steadfast, and shalt not fear. 1

Because thou shalt forget thy misery, 1 And remember it as waters that pass away: 1

And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; 1 Thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning. 1

And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; 1 Yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety. 1

Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; 1 Yea, many shall make suit unto thee. 1

But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, 1 And they shall not escape, 1 And their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
