Job · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Job 40

Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said, 1

Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? 1 He that reproveth God, let him answer it.

Then Job answered the Lord, and said, 1

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? 1 I will lay my hand upon my mouth. 1

Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: 1 Yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 1

Gird up thy loins now like a man: 1 I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 1

Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? 1 Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? 1

Hast thou an arm like God? 1 Or, canst thou thunder with a voice like him? 1

Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; 1 And array thyself with glory and beauty. 1

Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: 1 And behold every one that is proud, and abase him. 1

Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; 1 And tread down the wicked in their place. 1

Hide them in the dust together; 1 And bind their faces in secret. 1

Then will I also confess unto thee 1 That thine own right hand can save thee. 1

Behold now behemoth, 1 Which I made with thee; 1 He eateth grass as an ox. 1

Lo now, his strength is in his loins, 1 And his force is in the navel of his belly. 1

He moveth his tail like a cedar: 1 The sinews of his stones are wrapt together. 1

His bones are as strong pieces of brass; 1 His bones are like bars of iron. 1

He is the chief of the ways of God: 1 He that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. 1

Surely the mountains bring him forth food, 1 Where all the beasts of the field play. 1

He lieth under the shady trees, 1 In the covert of the reed, and fens. 1

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; 1 The willows of the brook compass him about. 1

Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: 1 He trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 1

He taketh it with his eyes: 1 His nose pierceth through snares.
