Job · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Job 14

Man that is born of a woman 1 Is of few days, and full of trouble. 1

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: 1 He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. 1

And dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one, 1 And bringest me into judgment with thee? 1

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? 1 Not one. 1

Seeing his days are determined, 1 The number of his months are with thee, 1 Thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; 1

Turn from him, that he may rest, 1 Till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day. 1

For there is hope of a tree, 1 If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, 1 And that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 1

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, 1 And the stock thereof die in the ground; 1

Yet through the sent of water it will bud, 1 And bring forth boughs like a plant. 1

But man dieth, and wasteth away: 1 Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? 1

As the waters fail from the sea, 1 And the flood decayeth and drieth up: 1

So man lieth down, and riseth not: 1 Till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, 1 Nor be raised out of their sleep. 1

O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, 1 That thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, 1 That thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me. 1

If a man die, shall he live again? 1 All the days of my appointed time will I wait, 1 Till my change come. 1

Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: 1 Thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands. 1

For now thou numberest my steps: 1 Dost thou not watch over my sin? 1

My transgression is sealed up in a bag, 1 And thou sewest up mine iniquity. 1

And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, 1 And the rock is removed out of his place. 1

The waters wear the stones: 1 Thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; 1 And thou destroyest the hope of man. 1

Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: 1 Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away. 1

His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; 1 And they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them. 1

But his flesh upon him shall have pain, 1 And his soul within him shall mourn.
