Job · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Job 39

Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? 1 Or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve? 1

Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? 1 Or knowest thou the time when they bring forth? 1

They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, 1 They cast out their sorrows. 1

Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; 1 They go forth, and return not unto them. 1

Who hath sent out the wild ass free? 1 Or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass? 1

Whose house I have made the wilderness, 1 And the barren land his dwellings. 1

He scorneth the multitude of the city, 1 Neither regardeth he the crying of the driver. 1

The range of the mountains is his pasture, 1 And he searcheth after every green thing. 1

Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, 1 Or abide by thy crib? 1

Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? 1 Or will he harrow the valleys after thee? 1

Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? 1 Or wilt thou leave thy labour to him? 1

Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, 1 And gather it into thy barn? 1

Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? 1 Or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? 1

Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, 1 And warmeth them in dust, 1

And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, 1 Or that the wild beast may break them. 1

She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: 1 Her labour is in vain without fear; 1

Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, 1 Neither hath he imparted to her understanding. 1

What time she lifteth up herself on high, 1 She scorneth the horse and his rider. 1

Hast thou given the horse strength? 1 Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? 1

Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? 1 The glory of his nostrils is terrible. 1

He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength. 1 He goeth on to meet the armed men. 1

He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; 1 Neither turneth he back from the sword. 1

The quiver rattleth against him, 1 The glittering spear and the shield. 1

He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: 1 Neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet. 1

He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; 1 And he smelleth the battle afar off, 1 The thunder of the captains, and the shouting. 1

Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, 1 And stretch her wings toward the south? 1

Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, 1 And make her nest on high? 1

She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, 1 Upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. 1

From thence she seeketh the prey, 1 And her eyes behold afar off. 1

Her young ones also suck up blood: 1 And where the slain are, there is she.
