Job 17
My breath is corrupt, 1 My days are extinct, 1 The graves are ready for me. 1
Are there not mockers with me? 1 And doth not mine eye continue in their provocation? 1
Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; 1 Who is he that will strike hands with me? 1
For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: 1 Therefore shalt thou not exalt them. 1
He that speaketh flattery to his friends, 1 Even the eyes of his children shall fail. 1
He hath made me also a byword of the people; 1 And aforetime I was as a tabret. 1
Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, 1 And all my members are as a shadow. 1
Upright men shall be astonied at this, 1 And the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite. 1
The righteous also shall hold on his way, 1 And he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger. 1
But as for you all, do you return, and come now: 1 For I cannot find one wise man among you. 1
My days are past, 1 My purposes are broken off, 1 Even the thoughts of my heart. 1
They change the night into day: 1 The light is short, because of darkness. 1
If I wait, the grave is mine house: 1 I have made my bed in the darkness. 1
I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: 1 To the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister. 1
And where is now my hope? 1 As for my hope, who shall see it? 1
They shall go down to the bars of the pit, 1 When our rest together is in the dust.
