Job · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Job 19

Then Job answered and said, 1

How long will ye vex my soul, 1 And break me in pieces with words? 1

These ten times have ye reproached me: 1 You are not ashamed that you make yourselves strange to me. 1

And be it indeed that I have erred, 1 Mine error remaineth with myself. 1

If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, 1 And plead against me my reproach: 1

Know now that God hath overthrown me, 1 And hath compassed me with his net. 1

Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: 1 I cry aloud, but there is no judgment. 1

He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, 1 And he hath set darkness in my paths. 1

He hath stript me of my glory, 1 And taken the crown from my head. 1

He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: 1 And mine hope hath he removed like a tree. 1

He hath also kindled his wrath against me, 1 And he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies. 1

His troops come together, 1 And raise up their way against me, 1 And encamp round about my tabernacle. 1

He hath put my brethren far from me, 1 And mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me. 1

My kinsfolk have failed, 1 And my familiar friends have forgotten me. 1

They that dwell in mine house, and my maidens, 1 Count me for a stranger: 1 I am an alien in their sight. 1

I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; 1 I intreated him with my mouth. 1

My breath is strange to my wife, 1 Though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body. 1

Yea, young children despised me; 1 I arose, and they spake against me. 1

All my inward friends abhorred me: 1 And they whom I loved are turned against me. 1

My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, 1 And I am escaped with the skin of my teeth. 1

Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; 1 For the hand of God hath touched me. 1

Why do ye persecute me as God, 1 And are not satisfied with my flesh? 1

O that my words were now written! 1 O that they were printed in a book! 1

That they were graven with an iron pen and lead 1 In the rock for ever! 1

For I know that my Redeemer liveth, 1 And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 1

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, 1 Yet in my flesh shall I see God: 1

Whom I shall see for myself, 1 And mine eyes shall behold, and not another; 1 Though my reins be consumed within me. 1

But ye should say, Why persecute we him? 1 Seeing the root of the matter is found in me; 1

Be ye afraid of the sword: 1 For wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, 1 That ye may know there is a judgment.
