Job 15
1Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said, 1
2Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, 1 And fill his belly with the east wind? 1
3Should he reason with unprofitable talk? 1 Or with speeches wherewith he can do no good? 1
4Yea, thou castest off fear, 1 And restrainest prayer before God. 1
5For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, 1 And thou choosest the tongue of the crafty. 1
6Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; 1 Yea, thine own lips testify against thee. 1
7Art thou the first man that was born? 1 Or wast thou made before the hills? 1
8Hast thou heard the secret of God? 1 And dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself? 1
9What knowest thou, that we know not? 1 What understandest thou, which is not in us? 1
10With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, 1 Much elder than thy father. 1
11Are the consolations of God small with thee? 1 Is there any secret thing with thee? 1
12Why doth thine heart carry thee away? 1 And what do thine eyes wink at, 1
13That thou turnest thy spirit against God, 1 And lettest such words go out of thy mouth? 1
14What is man, that he should be clean? 1 And he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? 1
15Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; 1 Yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight. 1
16How much more abominable and filthy 1 Is man, which drinketh iniquity like water? 1
17I will shew thee, hear me; 1 And that which I have seen I will declare; 1
18Which wise men have told 1 From their fathers, and have not hid it: 1
19Unto whom alone the earth was given, 1 And no stranger passed among them. 1
20The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, 1 And the number of years is hidden to the oppressor. 1
21A dreadful sound is in his ears: 1 In prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him. 1
22He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, 1 And he is waited for of the sword. 1
23He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? 1 He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand. 1
24Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; 1 They shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle. 1
25For he stretcheth out his hand against God, 1 And strengtheneth himself against the Almighty. 1
26He runneth upon him, even on his neck, 1 Upon the thick bosses of his bucklers: 1
27Because he covereth his face with his fatness, 1 And maketh collops of fat on his flanks. 1
28And he dwelleth in desolate cities, 1 And in houses which no man inhabiteth, 1 Which are ready to become heaps. 1
29He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, 1 Neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth. 1
30He shall not depart out of darkness; 1 The flame shall dry up his branches, 1 And by the breath of his mouth shall he go away. 1
31Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: 1 For vanity shall be his recompence. 1
32It shall be accomplished before his time, 1 And his branch shall not be green. 1
33He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, 1 And shall cast off his flower as the olive. 1
34For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, 1 And fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. 1
35They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, 1 And their belly prepareth deceit.
