Job 12
And Iyov answered and said, 1
Doubtless then ye are the people, 1 and chochmah shall die with you! 1
But I have levav (understanding) as well as you; 1 I am not inferior to you; 1 yea, who knoweth not such things as these? 1
I am as a laughingstock to his neighbor: 1 The man who calleth upon Eloah [they say of me], and He answereth him! 1 [To them I am] a laughingstock, the tzaddik, the tamim (blameless one)! 1
Those at ease have buz (contempt) 1 for a downfall which awaits 1 the one whose regel is slipping. 1
The ohalim of shodedim (robbers) remain in peace; 1 they that defy El are secure, 1 who Eloah brought forth by His yad. 1
But ask now the behemot, and they shall teach thee, 1 and the oph haShomayim (birds of the air), and they shall tell thee; 1
Or speak to ha'aretz, and it shall teach thee; 1 and the dagim of the yam shall declare unto thee. 1
Of all of these, 1 who lacketh da'as that the yad Hashem hath wrought this? 1
In whose yad is the nefesh of every living thing, 1 and the ruach of kol basar ish. 1
Doth not the ozen (ear) test words? 1 And the mouth tastes its ochel? 1
With the ancient ones is chochmah; 1 and in orech yamim (length of days) is binah (understanding). 1
With Him is chochmah and gevurah; 1 He hath etzah and understanding. 1
See, what He tears down cannot be reconstructed; 1 He shutteth up an ish, and there can be no prison release. 1
See, He withholdeth the waters, and they dry up; 1 also He sendeth them out, and they overturn eretz. 1
With Him is oz (strength) and tushiyyah (true wisdom); 1 the deceived and the deceiver are His. 1
He leadeth yoatzim (counsellors) away stripped, 1 and maketh the shofetim (judges) fools. 1
He looseth the shackle of melachim (kings), 1 and girdeth their loins with loincloth. 1
He leadeth kohanim away stripped, 1 and overthroweth the mighty. 1
He removeth the speech of the ne'emanim (trusted ones), 1 and taketh away the understanding of the zekenim. 1
He poureth buz (contempt) upon nobles, 1 and loosens the belt of the mighty. 1
He uncovers the depths of choshech, 1 and bringeth tzalmavet to light. 1
He giveth prosperity to the Goyim, and then destroyeth them; 1 He enlargeth them, and then carrieth the Goyim away. 1
He taketh away the lev (understanding) of the Rashei Am HaAretz, 1 and sendeth them to tohu lo derech (trackless wilderness). 1
They grope in the choshech without ohr, 1 and He maketh them to stagger like a shikkor (drunken man).
