Job 33
1Wherefore, Iyov, now, hear my speeches, 1 and pay heed to all my words. 1
2Hinei, now I have opened my mouth, 1 my leshon hath spoken in my mouth. 1
3My words shall be of my yosher lev (the uprightness of my heart), 1 and my lips shall utter da'as that is pure. 1
4The Ruach El [Ruach Hakodesh] hath made me, 1 and the Neshamah of Shaddai hath given me life. 1
5Im (If) thou canst, answer me; 1 set thy words in order in my presence; take thy stand. 1
6See, I am like thee, of El, 1 from chomer (clay) was I taken also. 1
7Hinei, my terror shall not make thee afraid, 1 neither shall my pressure be heavy upon thee. 1
8Surely thou hast spoken in my ozen, 1 and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying, 1
9I am pure without peysha; 1 I am clean; neither is there avon in me. + 33:9 Yn 8:46 1
10Yet He findeth tenuot (occasions) against me, 1 He counteth me for his oyev, 1
11He putteth my raglayim in the stocks, 1 He watcheth all my orkhot. 1
12But in this thou art not right; 1 I will answer thee, that Eloah is greater than enosh. 1
13Why dost thou contend against Him? 1 For He giveth not account of any of His matters. 1
14For El speaketh once, 1 yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. 1
15In a chalom, in a chezyon lailah, 1 when deep sleep falleth upon anashim, 1 in slumberings upon the mishkav (bed), 1
16Then He openeth the ozen anashim, 1 and sealeth their admonition 1
17That He may turn them aside from their deeds, 1 and hide pride from gever (man). 1
18He keepeth back his nefesh from the shachat, 1 and his life from the overthrow of the sword. 1
19He is chastened also with pain upon his mishkav, 1 and the continual strife in his atzmot; 1
20So that his life abhorreth lechem, 1 and his nefesh dainty food. 1
21His basar is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; 1 and his atzmot that were not seen stick out. 1
22Yea, his nefesh draweth near unto the shachat, 1 and his life to the ones bringing death. 1
23If there be a malach (messenger, i.e., Malach HaBrit, HaAdon) + 33:23 See Mal 3:1 1 as melitz (mediator) for him, one of a thousand, 1 who declares a person yashar (upright), + 33:23 Isa 53:11 1
24Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, 1 Deliver him from going down to the shachat (pit); 1 I have found a kofer (ransom). + 33:24 Mk 10:45 1
25His basar shall be restored like a na'ar; 1 he shall return to the yamim of his youthful vigor; 1
26He shall pray unto Eloah, and be accepted by Him, 1 and he shall see His face with teruah (shouts of joy); 1 thus He recompenseth unto enosh his tzedek. 1
27He looketh upon anashim, and if any say, 1 I have sinned, and perverted that which was yashar, 1 and it was not recompensed to me, 1
28He will redeem his nefesh from going into the shachat, 1 and his life shall see the ohr. 1
29Lo, all these things worketh El, 1 twice, shalosh with gever (man), 1
30To bring back his nefesh from the shachat (pit), 1 to be enlightened with the Ohr HaChayyim (light of the living). 1
31Mark well, O Iyov, pay heed unto me; 1 hold thy peace, and I will speak. 1
32If thou hast anything to say, answer me; 1 dabbir (speak), for I desire to justify thee. 1
33If not, pay heed unto me; 1 hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee chochmah.
