Job 24
1Why are times [for judgment] 1 from Shaddai not kept, 1 and why do those who have da'as of him not see his yamim (days [of assize])? 1
2Some move the boundary stones; 1 they steal edar, and pasture them. 1
3They drive away the chamor of the yetomim, 1 they take the ox of the almanah for a pledge. 1
4They thrust the needy out of the derech; 1 the poor of the eretz needs hide themselves together. 1
5Look, as wild donkeys in the midbar go they forth to their work; 1 foraging for teref (nourishment); 1 the wilderness yieldeth lechem for them and for their na'arim. 1
6They reap every one his fodder in the sadeh, 1 and they glean the kerem of the resha'im. 1
7They spend the night arom (naked) without levush (clothing), 1 they have no covering in the cold. 1
8They are wet with the rain of the harim, 1 and embrace the tzur for want of a shelter. 1
9They pluck the yatom from the breast, 1 and seize the oni for debt. 1
10They cause him to go arom without levush, 1 and they take away the omer (sheaf) from the hungry; 1
11Which crush olives within their walls, 1 and tread their winepresses, yet suffer thirst. 1
12Men groan from out of the Ir, 1 and the nefesh of the chalalim (wounded ones) crieth out, 1 yet Eloah chargeth not tiflah (folly) to them. 1
13They are of those that are moredei ohr (rebelling ones against the light); 1 they know not the ways thereof, 1 nor abide in the paths thereof. 1
14The rotzeach rising with the daylight 1 killeth the oni and needy, 1 and in the lailah is like a ganav. 1
15The eye also of the no'ef is shomer, watching for the duskʼs twilight, 1 saying, No eye shall see me, 1 and puts something to hide his face. 1
16In the choshech they dig through batim (houses); 1 in the daytime they shut themselves in; 1 they have no da'as of the ohr. 1
17For the boker is to them even as the tzalmavet; 1 they are friends with the terrors of tzalmavet. 1
18Swiftly vanishing is he on the surface of the mayim; 1 their chelek is cursed in ha'aretz; 1 he turneth no more in the derech of the kramim (vineyards). 1
19Drought and heat consume the snow waters; 1 so doth Sheol those which have sinned. 1
20The rechem (womb) shall forget him; 1 the worm shall feast on him; 1 he shall be no more remembered; 1 and wickedness shall be broken like an etz. 1
21He plundereth the barren that beareth not; 1 and doeth not good to the almanah. 1
22He drags away also the mighty with his ko'ach; 1 he riseth up, and no man is sure of life. 1
23Though it be given him to be in safety, and he be sustained, 1 yet His eynayim are upon their ways. 1
24They are exalted me'at (for a little while), 1 then they are no more and are withered and snatched away like all others, 1 and cut off like the tops of the ears of grain. 1
25And if it be not so, who will charge me with lying, 1 and make my milah (word) worth nothing? + 24:25 T.N.
