Job 36
Elihu also proceeded, and said, 1
Bear with me a little, 1 and I will show thee that I have yet to speak on behalf of Eloah. 1
I will get my da'as from afar, 1 and will ascribe tzedek to my Maker. 1
For truly my words shall not be sheker; 1 one that is tamim (complete) in da'as is among thee. 1
See, El is kabir (mighty), and despiseth not any; 1 He is kabir in ko'ach lev (strength of understanding). 1
He preserveth not the life of the rasha, 1 but giveth mishpat to the aniyim. 1
He withdraweth not His eyes from the tzaddik, 1 but with melachim are they on the kisse; 1 yea, He doth establish them lanetzach (forever), and they are exalted. 1
And if they be bound in chains, 1 and be held fast in chevlei oni (cords of affliction), 1
Then He showeth them their work, 1 and their peysha'im that they have done arrogantly. 1
He openeth also their ozen to musar (discipline), 1 and commandeth that they make teshuvah and turn from evil. 1
If they obey and serve Him, 1 they shall spend their yamim in tov (prosperity), 1 and their shanim in contentment. 1
But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, 1 and they shall die without da'as. 1
But the chanefei lev (irreligious in heart, hypocrites) incur wrath; 1 they do not cry for help when He bindeth them. 1
They die in youth, 1 their nefesh among the kedeshim (cult male prostitutes, youthful lusts). 1
He delivereth the oni in his affliction, 1 and openeth their ears in oppression. 1
Even so would He have removed thee out of the tzar (distress) 1 into a rachav (broad place), free from restriction, 1 to the comfort of thy shulchan, full of choice food. 1
But thou hast been fixated on the din of the rasha; 1 din and mishpat take hold on thee. 1
Because there is chemah, beware lest He take thee away with His stroke; 1 then a rav kopher (great ransom) cannot deliver thee. 1
Will He esteem thy riches? 1 No, not zahav, nor all the forces of ko'ach. 1
Desire not halailah (the night), 1 when people are cut off in their place. 1
Take heed, regard not iniquity; 1 for this hast thou chosen rather than oni. 1
See, El exalted by His ko'ach. 1 Who is a moreh (teacher) like Him? 1
Who hath enjoined Him His derech? 1 Or who can say, Thou hast done wrong? 1
Remember that thou must extol His work, 1 of which anashim have sung praises. 1
Kol adam has seen it; 1 enosh beholds it afar off. 1
See, El is great, and we know Him not, 1 neither can the mispar of His shanim be searched out. 1
For He draws up the drops of mayim; 1 He distills His mist as matar; 1
Which the clouds do drop 1 and distill upon adam abundantly. 1
Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, 1 or the thunderings of His sukkah? 1
See, He spreadeth His ohr upon it, 1 and covereth the depths of the yam. 1
For by them governeth He the amim (nations); 1 He giveth okhel in abundance. 1
His hands He covers with the ohr (lightning), 1 and commandeth it to strike the mark. 1
His noise announceth Him, 1 the cattle even that He is approaching.
