Job 37

At this also my lev trembleth, 1 and is moved out of its place. 1

Hear attentively the rogez of His voice, 1 and the sound that goeth out of His mouth. 1

He directeth it under kol HaShomayim, 1 and His ohr (lightning) unto the ends of ha'aretz. 1

After it His kol (voice) roareth; 1 He thundereth with the kol of His majesty; 1 one cannot hold them back when His kol is heard. 1

El thundereth marvellously with His kol; 1 gedolot doeth He, beyond our understanding. 1

For He saith to the snow, 1 Fall thou to the eretz; likewise to the geshem matar, 1 the heavy downpour of rain. 1

He sealeth up kol adam; 1 that all men may know His work. 1

Then the chayyah (beasts) go into their lair, 1 and remain in their places. 1

Out of its cheder (chamber) cometh the whirlwind; 1 and cold out of the driving winds. 1

By the neshamah of El frost is given, 1 and the broad mayim are frozen. 1

Also by watering He loadeth the thick cloud; 1 He scattereth the anan of His ohr (lightning), 1

And it is turned round about by His guidance; 1 that they may do whatsoever He commandeth them 1 upon the face of the tevel (habitable world). 1

He causeth it to happen, whether for correction, 1 or for His land, or for chesed. 1

Pay heed unto this, O Iyov; 1 stand still, and consider the nifle'ot El (wondrous works of G-d). 1

Dost thou know how Eloah controls them, 1 and caused the ohr (lightning) of His cloud to flash? 1

Dost thou know the spreading out of the clouds, 1 the wondrous works of Him which is tamim in da'as? 1

You whose garments are hot, 1 when the eretz is still because of the south wind, 1

Hast thou with Him spread out the shekhakim (clouds), 1 hard as a molten mirror? 1

Teach us what we shall say unto Him, 1 for we cannot order our case by reason of choshech. 1

Should it be told Him that I wish to speak? 1 Or should an ish say that he would be swallowed up? 1

And now men cannot look at the bright ohr which is in the clouds, 1 when the ruach passeth, and cleareth them. 1

Splendor of zahav cometh out of the north; 1 with Elo'ah is awesome hod (majesty). 1

Touching Shaddai, we cannot reach Him; 1 He is exalted in ko'ach, 1 and in mishpat, and rov tzedakah; 1 He does not oppress. 1

Anashim do therefore fear Him; 1 He regardeth not any that are wise of heart.
