Job 35

Elihu spoke moreover, and said: 1

Thinkest thou this to be mishpat (right, just), that thou saidst: 1 Tzidki meEl (I am cleared, in the right, justified before G-d)? 1

Ki (yet) thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? 1 and, What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned? + 35:3 see 9:22 1

I will answer thee, 1 and thy companions with thee. 1

Look unto Shomayim, and see; 1 and behold the clouds which are higher than thou. 1

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? 1 Or if thy peysha'im be multiplied, what doest thou unto Him? 1

If thou be tzaddik (righteous), what givest thou Him? 1 Or what receiveth He of thine yad? 1

Thy resha (wickedness) may hurt an ish as thou art; 1 and thy tzedek may profit the ben adam. 1

They cry out under a load of oppression; 1 they plead for relief from the zero'a of the rabbim. 1

But none saith, Where is Eloah Osai (G-d my Maker), 1 Who giveth zemirot balailah (songs in the night); 1

Who teacheth us more than the behamot eretz, 1 and maketh us wiser than the oph HaShomayim? 1

There they cry out, but none giveth answer, 1 because of the ga'on (pride, arrogance) of ra'im (wicked men). 1

Surely El will not hear shav (vanity), 1 neither will Shaddai regard it. 1

Although thou sayest thou cannot see Him, 1 yet Din (the court case) is before Him; 1 therefore trust thou, waiting for Him, 1

though ye say His anger does not pakad (visit, punish) anything 1 and that He does not regard wickedness much; 1

Therefore doth Iyov open his mouth hevel (in vain); 1 he multiplieth words without da'as.
