Isaiah 21
The burden of the desert of the sea. 1 As whirlwinds in the south pass through; 1 So it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land. 1
A grievous vision is declared unto me; 1 The treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. 1 Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; 1 All the sighing thereof have I made to cease. 1
Therefore are my loins filled with pain: 1 Pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: 1 I was bowed down at the hearing of it; 1 I was dismayed at the seeing of it. 1
My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: 1 The night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me. 1
Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: 1 Arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. 1
For thus hath the Lord said unto me, 1 Go, set a watchman, 1 Let him declare what he seeth. 1
And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, 1 A chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; 1 And he hearkened diligently with much heed: 1
And he cried, A lion: 1 My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, 1 And I am set in my ward whole nights: 1
And behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. 1 And he answered and said, 1 Babylon is fallen, is fallen; 1 And all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground. 1
O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: 1 That which I have heard of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, 1 Have I declared unto you.
The burden of Dumah. 1 He calleth to me out of Seir, 1 Watchman, what of the night? 1 Watchman, what of the night? 1
The watchman said, 1 The morning cometh, and also the night: 1 If ye will inquire, inquire ye: 1 Return, come.
The burden upon Arabia. 1 In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, 1 O ye travelling companies of Dedanim. 1
The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, 1 They prevented with their bread him that fled. 1
For they fled from the swords, 1 From the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, 1 And from the grievousness of war. 1
For thus hath the Lord said unto me, 1 Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, 1 And all the glory of Kedar shall fail: 1
And the residue of the number of archers, 1 The mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: 1 For the Lord God of Israel hath spoken it.
