Isaiah 66
Thus saith the Lord, 1 The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: 1 Where is the house that ye build unto me? 1 And where is the place of my rest? 1
For all those things hath mine hand made, 1 And all those things have been, saith the Lord: 1 But to this man will I look, 1 Even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, 1 And trembleth at my word. 1
He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; 1 He that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; 1 He that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; 1 He that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. 1 Yea, they have chosen their own ways, 1 And their soul delighteth in their abominations. 1
I also will choose their delusions, 1 And will bring their fears upon them; 1 Because when I called, none did answer; 1 When I spake, they did not hear: 1 But they did evil before mine eyes, 1 And chose that in which I delighted not. 1
Hear the word of the Lord, ye that tremble at his word; 1 Your brethren that hated you, 1 That cast you out for my name’s sake, said, 1 Let the Lord be glorified: 1 But he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. 1
A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, 1 A voice of the Lord that rendereth recompence to his enemies. 1
Before she travailed, she brought forth; 1 Before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. 1
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? 1 Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? 1 Or shall a nation be born at once? 1 For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. 1
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: 1 Shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. 1
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: 1 Rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: 1
That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; 1 That ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. 1
For thus saith the Lord, 1 Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, 1 And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: 1 Then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, 1 And be dandled upon her knees. 1
As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; 1 And ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 1
And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, 1 And your bones shall flourish like an herb: 1 And the hand of the Lord shall be known towards his servants, 1 And his indignation towards his enemies. 1
For behold, the Lord will come with fire, 1 And with his chariots like a whirlwind, 1 To render his anger with fury, 1 And his rebuke with flames of fire. 1
For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: 1 And the slain of the Lord shall be many. 1
They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens 1 Behind one tree in the midst, 1 Eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, 1 Shall be consumed together, saith the Lord. 1
For I know their works and their thoughts: 1 It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; 1 And they shall come, and see my glory. 1
And I will set a sign among them, 1 And I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, 1 To Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, 1 To Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, 1 That have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; 1 And they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. 1
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations 1 Upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, 1 To my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, 1 As the children of Israel bring an offering 1 In a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. 1
And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the Lord. 1
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, 1 Shall remain before me, saith the Lord, 1 So shall your seed and your name remain. 1
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, 1 And from one sabbath to another, 1 Shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. 1
And they shall go forth, and look 1 Upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: 1 For their worm shall not die, 1 Neither shall their fire be quenched; 1 And they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
