Isaiah 43
But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, 1 And he that formed thee, O Israel, 1 Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, 1 I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. 1
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; 1 And through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: 1 When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burnt; 1 Neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. 1
For I am the Lord thy God, 1 The Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: 1 I gave Egypt for thy ransom, 1 Ethiopia and Seba for thee. 1
Since thou wast precious in my sight, 1 Thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: 1 Therefore will I give men for thee, 1 And people for thy life. 1
Fear not: for I am with thee: 1 I will bring thy seed from the east, 1 And gather thee from the west; 1
I will say to the north, Give up; 1 And to the south, Keep not back: 1 Bring my sons from far, 1 And my daughters from the ends of the earth; 1
Even every one that is called by my name: 1 For I have created him for my glory, 1 I have formed him; yea, I have made him. 1
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, 1 And the deaf that have ears. 1
Let all the nations be gathered together, 1 And let the people be assembled: 1 Who among them can declare this, 1 And shew us former things? 1 Let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: 1 Or let them hear, and say, It is truth. 1
Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, 1 And my servant whom I have chosen: 1 That ye may know and believe me, 1 And understand that I am he: 1 Before me there was no God formed, 1 Neither shall there be after me. 1
I, even I, am the Lord; 1 And beside me there is no saviour. 1
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, 1 When there was no strange god among you: 1 Therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God. 1
Yea, before the day was I am he; 1 And there is none that can deliver out of my hand: 1 I will work, and who shall let it? 1
Thus saith the Lord, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; 1 For your sake I have sent to Babylon, 1 And have brought down all their nobles, 1 And the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships. 1
I am the Lord, your Holy One, 1 The creator of Israel, your King. 1
Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, 1 And a path in the mighty waters; 1
Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; 1 They shall lie down together, they shall not rise: 1 They are extinct, they are quenched as tow. 1
Remember ye not the former things, 1 Neither consider the things of old. 1
Behold, I will do a new thing; 1 Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? 1 I will even make a way in the wilderness, 1 And rivers in the desert. 1
The beast of the field shall honour me, 1 The dragons and the owls: 1 Because I give waters in the wilderness, 1 And rivers in the desert, 1 To give drink to my people, my chosen. 1
This people have I formed for myself; 1 They shall shew forth my praise. 1
But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; 1 But thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. 1
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; 1 Neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. 1 I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, 1 Nor wearied thee with incense. 1
Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, 1 Neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: 1 But thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, 1 Thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities. 1
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, 1 And will not remember thy sins. 1
Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: 1 Declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. 1
Thy first father hath sinned, 1 And thy teachers have transgressed against me. 1
Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, 1 And have given Jacob to the curse, 1 And Israel to reproaches.
