Isaiah · KJV Cambridge Paragraph

Isaiah 25

O Lord, thou art my God; 1 I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; 1 For thou hast done wonderful things; 1 Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. 1

For thou hast made of a city a heap; 1 Of a defenced city a ruin: 1 A palace of strangers to be no city; 1 It shall never be built. 1

Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, 1 The city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. 1

For thou hast been a strength to the poor, 1 A strength to the needy in his distress, 1 A refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, 1 When the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. 1

Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, 1 As the heat in a dry place; 1 Even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: 1 The branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low. 1

And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people 1 A feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, 1 Of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 1

And he will destroy in this mountain 1 The face of the covering cast over all people, 1 And the vail that is spread over all nations. 1

He will swallow up death in victory; 1 And the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; 1 And the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: 1 For the Lord hath spoken it. 1

And it shall be said in that day, 1 Lo, this is our God; 1 We have waited for him, and he will save us: 1 This is the Lord; we have waited for him, 1 We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. 1

For in this mountain shall the hand of the Lord rest, 1 And Moab shall be trodden down under him, 1 Even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill. 1

And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, 1 As he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: 1 And he shall bring down their pride 1 Together with the spoils of their hands. 1

And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, 1 Lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.
