Isaiah 65

I am sought of them that asked not for me: 1 I am found of them that sought me not: 1 I said, Behold me, behold me, 1 Unto a nation that was not called by my name. 1

I have spread out mine hands all the day unto a rebellious people, 1 Which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; 1

A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; 1 That sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; 1

Which remain among the graves, 1 And lodge in the monuments, 1 Which eat swine’s flesh, 1 And broth of abominable things is in their vessels; 1

Which say, Stand by thyself, 1 Come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. 1 These are a smoke in my nose, 1 A fire that burneth all the day. 1

Behold, it is written before me: 1 I will not keep silence, but will recompense, 1 Even recompense into their bosom, 1

Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord, 1 Which have burnt incense upon the mountains, 1 And blasphemed me upon the hills: 1 Therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom. 1

Thus saith the Lord, 1 As the new wine is found in the cluster, 1 And one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: 1 So will I do for my servants’ sakes, 1 That I may not destroy them all. 1

And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, 1 And out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: 1 And mine elect shall inherit it, 1 And my servants shall dwell there. 1

And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, 1 And the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, 1 For my people that have sought me. 1

But ye are they that forsake the Lord, 1 That forget my holy mountain, 1 That prepare a table for that troop, 1 And that furnish the drink offering unto that number. 1

Therefore will I number you to the sword, 1 And ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: 1 Because when I called, ye did not answer; 1 When I spake, ye did not hear; 1 But did evil before mine eyes, 1 And did choose that wherein I delighted not. 1

Therefore thus saith the Lord God, 1 Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: 1 Behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: 1 Behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: 1

Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, 1 But ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, 1 And shall howl for vexation of spirit. 1

And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: 1 For the Lord God shall slay thee, 1 And call his servants by another name: 1

That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; 1 And he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; 1 Because the former troubles are forgotten, 1 And because they are hid from mine eyes. 1

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: 1 And the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 1

But be you glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: 1 For behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. 1

And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: 1 And the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. 1

There shall be no more thence an infant of days, 1 Nor an old man that hath not filled his days: 1 For the child shall die an hundred years old; 1 But the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. 1

And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; 1 And they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. 1

They shall not build, and another inhabit; 1 They shall not plant, and another eat: 1 For as the days of a tree are the days of my people, 1 And mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 1

They shall not labour in vain, 1 Nor bring forth for trouble; 1 For they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, 1 And their offspring with them. 1

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; 1 And whiles they are yet speaking, I will hear. 1

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, 1 And the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: 1 And dust shall be the serpent’s meat. 1 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.
