Isaiah 45
1Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, 1 Whose right hand I have holden, 1 To subdue nations before him; 1 And I will loose the loins of kings, 1 To open before him the two leaved gates; 1 And the gates shall not be shut; 1
2I will go before thee, 1 And make the crooked places straight: 1 I will break in pieces the gates of brass, 1 And cut in sunder the bars of iron: 1
3And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, 1 And hidden riches of secret places, 1 That thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. 1
4For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, 1 I have even called thee by thy name: 1 I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me. 1
5I am the Lord, and there is none else, 1 There is no God besides me: 1 I girded thee though thou hast not known me: 1
6That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, 1 That there is none besides me. 1 I am the Lord, and there is none else. 1
7I form the light, and create darkness: 1 I make peace, and create evil: 1 I the Lord do all these things. 1
8Drop down, ye heavens, from above, 1 And let the skies pour down righteousness: 1 Let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, 1 And let righteousness spring up together; 1 I the Lord have created it. 1
9Woe unto him that striveth with his maker! 1 Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. 1 Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? 1 Or thy work, He hath no hands? 1
10Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? 1 Or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth? 1
11Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his maker, 1 Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, 1 And concerning the work of my hands command ye me. 1
12I have made the earth, 1 And created man upon it: 1 I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, 1 And all their host have I commanded. 1
13I have raised him up in righteousness, 1 And I will direct all his ways: 1 He shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, 1 Not for price nor reward, 1 Saith the Lord of hosts. 1
14Thus saith the Lord, 1 The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia 1 And of the Sabeans, men of stature, 1 Shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: 1 They shall come after thee, in chains they shall come over, 1 And they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, 1 Surely God is in thee; 1 And there is none else, there is no God. 1
15Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, 1 O God of Israel, the saviour. 1
16They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: 1 They shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols. 1
17But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: 1 Ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end. 1
18For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; 1 God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, 1 He created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: 1 I am the Lord; and there is none else. 1
19I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: 1 I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: 1 I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. 1
20Assemble yourselves and come; 1 Draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: 1 They have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, 1 And pray unto a god that cannot save. 1
21Tell ye, and bring them near; 1 Yea, let them take counsel together: 1 Who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? 1 Have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; 1 A just God and a saviour; there is none beside me. 1
22Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: 1 For I am God, and there is none else. 1
23I have sworn by myself, 1 The word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, 1 That unto me every knee shall bow, 1 Every tongue shall swear. 1
24Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength: 1 Even to him shall men come; 1 And all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. 1
25In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
