Isaiah 63
1Who is this that cometh from Edom, 1 With dyed garments from Bozrah? 1 This that is glorious in his apparel, 1 Travelling in the greatness of his strength? 1 I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 1
2Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, 1 And thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? 1
3I have trodden the winepress alone; 1 And of the people there was none with me: 1 For I will tread them in mine anger, 1 And trample them in my fury; 1 And their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, 1 And I will stain all my raiment. 1
4For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, 1 And the year of my redeemed is come. 1
5And I looked, and there was none to help; 1 And I wondered that there was none to uphold: 1 Therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; 1 And my fury, it upheld me. 1
6And I will tread down the people in mine anger, 1 And make them drunk in my fury, 1 And I will bring down their strength to the earth. 1
7I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, 1 According to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, 1 And the great goodness towards the house of Israel, 1 Which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, 1 And according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 1
8For he said, Surely they are my people, 1 Children that will not lie: 1 So he was their Saviour. 1
9In all their affliction he was afflicted, 1 And the angel of his presence saved them: 1 In his love and in his pity he redeemed them; 1 And he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. 1
10But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: 1 Therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. 1
11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, 1 Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? 1 Where is he that put his holy Spirit within him? 1
12That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, 1 Dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name? 1
13That led them through the deep, 1 As a horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble? 1
14As a beast goeth down into the valley, 1 The Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest: 1 So didst thou lead thy people, 1 To make thyself a glorious name. 1
15Look down from heaven, and behold 1 From the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: 1 Where is thy zeal and thy strength, 1 The sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies towards me? are they restrained? 1
16Doubtless thou art our father, 1 Though Abraham be ignorant of us, 1 And Israel acknowledge us not: 1 Thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; 1 Thy name is from everlasting. 1
17O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, 1 And hardened our heart from thy fear? 1 Return for thy servants’ sake, 1 The tribes of thine inheritance. 1
18The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: 1 Our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary. 1
19We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; 1 They were not called by thy name.
