Isaiah 46
Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, 1 Their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: 1 Your carriages were heavy loaden; 1 They are a burden to the weary beast. 1
They stoop, they bow down together; 1 They could not deliver the burden, 1 But themselves are gone into captivity. 1
Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, 1 And all the remnant of the house of Israel, 1 Which are borne by me from the belly, 1 Which are carried from the womb: 1
And even to your old age I am he; 1 And even to hoar hairs will I carry you: 1 I have made, and I will bear; 1 Even I will carry, and will deliver you. 1
To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, 1 And compare me, that we may be like? 1
They lavish gold out of the bag, 1 And weigh silver in the balance, 1 And hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: 1 They fall down, yea, they worship. 1
They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, 1 And set him in his place, and he standeth; 1 From his place shall he not remove: 1 Yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, 1 Nor save him out of his trouble. 1
Remember this, and shew yourselves men: 1 Bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. 1
Remember the former things of old: 1 For I am God, and there is none else; 1 I am God, and there is none like me, 1
Declaring the end from the beginning, 1 And from ancient times the things that are not yet done, 1 Saying, My counsel shall stand, 1 And I will do all my pleasure: 1
Calling a ravenous bird from the east, 1 The man that executeth my counsel from a far country: 1 Yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; 1 I have purposed it, I will also do it. 1
Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, 1 That are far from righteousness: 1
I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, 1 And my salvation shall not tarry: 1 And I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
