Isaiah 53
Who hath believed our report? 1 And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? 1
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, 1 And as a root out of a dry ground: 1 He hath no form nor comeliness; 1 And when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 1
He is despised and rejected of men; 1 A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: 1 And we hid as it were our faces from him; 1 He was despised, and we esteemed him not. 1
Surely he hath borne our griefs, 1 And carried our sorrows: 1 Yet we did esteem him stricken, 1 Smitten of God, and afflicted. 1
But he was wounded for our transgressions, 1 He was bruised for our iniquities: 1 The chastisement of our peace was upon him; 1 And with his stripes we are healed. 1
All we like sheep have gone astray; 1 We have turned every one to his own way; 1 And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 1
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, 1 Yet he opened not his mouth: 1 He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, 1 And as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, 1 So he openeth not his mouth. 1
He was taken from prison and from judgment: 1 And who shall declare his generation? 1 For he was cut off out of the land of the living: 1 For the transgression of my people was he stricken. 1
And he made his grave with the wicked, 1 And with the rich in his death; 1 Because he had done no violence, 1 Neither was any deceit in his mouth. 1
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: 1 When thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, 1 He shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, 1 And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. 1
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: 1 By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; 1 For he shall bear their iniquities. 1
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, 1 And he shall divide the spoil with the strong; 1 Because he hath poured out his soul unto death: 1 And he was numbered with the transgressors; 1 And he bare the sin of many, 1 And made intercession for the transgressors.
