Isaiah 60

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, 1 And the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. 1

For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, 1 And gross darkness the people: 1 But the Lord shall arise upon thee, 1 And his glory shall be seen upon thee. 1

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, 1 And kings to the brightness of thy rising. 1

Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: 1 All they gather themselves together, they come to thee: 1 Thy sons shall come from far, 1 And thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. 1

Then thou shalt see, and flow together, 1 And thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; 1 Because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, 1 The forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. 1

The multitude of camels shall cover thee, 1 The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; 1 All they from Sheba shall come: 1 They shall bring gold and incense; 1 And they shall shew forth the praises of the Lord. 1

All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, 1 The rams of Nebajoth shall minister unto thee: 1 They shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, 1 And I will glorify the house of my glory. 1

Who are these that fly as a cloud, 1 And as the doves to their windows? 1

Surely the isles shall wait for me, 1 And the ships of Tarshish first, 1 To bring thy sons from far, 1 Their silver and their gold with them, 1 Unto the name of the Lord thy God, 1 And to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee. 1

And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, 1 And their kings shall minister unto thee: 1 For in my wrath I smote thee, 1 But in my favour have I had mercy on thee. 1

Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; 1 They shall not be shut day nor night; 1 That men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, 1 And that their kings may be brought. 1

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; 1 Yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted. 1

The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, 1 The fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, 1 To beautify the place of my sanctuary; 1 And I will make the place of my feet glorious. 1

The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; 1 And all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; 1 And they shall call thee, The city of the Lord, 1 The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. 1

Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, 1 So that no man went through thee, 1 I will make thee an eternal excellency, 1 A joy of many generations. 1

Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, 1 And shalt suck the breast of kings: 1 And thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Saviour 1 And thy redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. 1

For brass I will bring gold, 1 And for iron I will bring silver, 1 And for wood brass, 1 And for stones iron: 1 I will also make thy officers peace, 1 And thine exactors righteousness. 1

Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, 1 Wasting nor destruction within thy borders; 1 But thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, 1 And thy gates Praise. 1

The sun shall be no more thy light by day; 1 Neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: 1 But the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, 1 And thy God thy glory. 1

Thy sun shall no more go down; 1 Neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: 1 For the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, 1 And the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 1

Thy people also shall be all righteous: 1 They shall inherit the land for ever, 1 The branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 1

A little one shall become a thousand, 1 And a small one a strong nation: 1 I the Lord will hasten it in his time.
