Isaiah 64
O that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, 1 That the mountains might flow down at thy presence, 1
As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, 1 To make thy name known to thine adversaries, 1 That the nations may tremble at thy presence. 1
When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, 1 Thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence. 1
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, 1 Neither hath the eye seen, O God, besides thee, 1 What he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. 1
Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, 1 Those that remember thee in thy ways: 1 Behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: 1 In those is continuance, and we shall be saved. 1
But we are all as an unclean thing, 1 And all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; 1 And we all do fade as a leaf; 1 And our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. 1
And there is none that calleth upon thy name, 1 That stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: 1 For thou hast hid thy face from us, 1 And hast consumed us, because of our iniquities. 1
But now, O Lord, thou art our father; 1 We are the clay, and thou our potter; 1 And we all are the work of thine hand. 1
Be not wroth very sore, O Lord, 1 Neither remember iniquity for ever: 1 Behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. 1
Thy holy cities are a wilderness, 1 Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. 1
Our holy and our beautiful house, 1 Where our fathers praised thee, 1 Is burnt up with fire: 1 And all our pleasant things are laid waste. 1
Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Lord? 1 Wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
