Isaiah 15

The massa (burden) of Moav: 1 Because in the lailah (night) Ar of Moav is destroyed, 1 and brought to silence; 1 because in the lailah Kir of Moav is destroyed, 1 and brought to silence; 1

He is gone up to the [idol] temple, and to Divon, 1 the + 15:2 idolatrous high places, to weep: 1 Moav shall howl over Nevo, and over Medeva; 1 on all their rosh shall be shaved heads, 1 and every zakan (beard) cut off. 1

In their chutzot (streets) they shall gird themselves with sackcloth; 1 on their rooftops, and in their rechovot (open areas), 1 every one shall wail, falling down with weeping. 1

And Cheshbon shall cry, and Elealeh; 1 their voice shall be heard even unto Yahatz; 1 therefore the loins of Moav shall shake; 1 his nefesh shall be faint within him. 1

My lev shall cry out for Moav; 1 his fugitives shall flee unto Tzoar, 1 and Eglat-Shelishiyah; 1 for by the Ascent of Luchit 1 with bekhi (weeping) shall they go up; 1 for on the Derech Choronayim 1 they shall raise up a lament because of destruction. 1

For the waters of Nimrim shall be dried up; 1 for the khatzir (grass) is withered away, 1 the desheh (vegetation) faileth, 1 yerek (green) there is none, 1

Therefore the possessions they have gotten, 1 and that which they have laid up, 1 shall they carry away to the Nakhal HaAravim (Ravine of Willows). 1

For the cry is gone 1 all around the borders of Moav; 1 the outcry thereof unto Eglayim, 1 and the wailing thereof unto Be'er Elim. 1

For the waters of Dimon shall be full of dahm; 1 for I will bring more upon Dimon, 1 aryeh (lion) upon him that escapeth of Moav, 1 and upon she'erit adamah (the remnant of the land).
