Isaiah 35
1The Midbar (desert) and the Tziyyah (dry land) shall be glad over them; + 35:1 the redeemed of Hashem, see 35:9 1 and the Aravah shall rejoice, 1 and blossom like the khavatzelet (lily). 1
2It shall bloom abundantly, 1 and rejoice even with gilat (rejoicing) and rannein (joyous singing); 1 the kavod haLevanon (glory of Lebanon) shall be given unto her (the Aravah), 1 the hadar (majesty) of Carmel and Sharon; 1 they + 35:2 i.e., the desert and dry land in v.1 shall see the Kavod Hashem (glory of Hashem ), 1 and the Hadar Eloheinu (majesty of our G-d). 1
3Make ye the weak hands chazak (strong), 1 and steady the birkayim (knees) koshlot (feeble ones [knees] that give way, i.e., of those of the Golus returning to G-d in Tziyon). 1
4Say to them that are of a fearful lev, 1 Be strong, fear not; 1 hinei, Eloheichem (your G-d) will come with nakam (vengeance), 1 with Elohim gemul (divine retribution) 1 He will come and save you. 1
5Then the eyes of the ivvrim (blind people) shall be opened, 1 and the ears of the chereshim (deaf ones) shall be unstopped. 1
6Then shall the pisei'ach (lame) leap like the deer, 1 and the leshon (tongue) of the illem (the mute, the people unable to utter speech) sing for joy; 1 for in the midbar shall mayim break forth, 1 and streams in the Aravah. 1
7And the sharav (burning sand) shall become an agam (pool, lake, pond) 1 and the thirsty land, springs of mayim; 1 in the habitation of jackals, where each [jackal] lay, shall be khatzir (grassland) 1 as well as reeds and gomeh (papyrus, bulrushes). 1
8And a maslul (highway) shall be there, and a derech (road), 1 and it shall be called The Derech HaKodesh (The Holy Road); 1 the tameh (unclean, impure person [see Isa 26:7]) shall not pass along it, 1 inasmuch as it shall be for them, 1 that is, the Holech Derech (Walker of the Road, i.e., whoever is the [Redeemed] Wayfarer on the Derech HaKodesh), 1 even evilim (morally bad foolish people) shall not go astray thereon. 1
9No aryeh (lion) shall be there, 1 nor any peritz chayyot (ravenous, dangerous, ferocious of [wild] beasts) shall go up thereon, 1 it shall not be found there; 1 but the Ge'ulim (redeemed people) shall walk there; 1
10And the Peduyei Hashem (ransomed ones of Hashem ) shall return, 1 and come to Tziyon with songs 1 and simchat olam (everlasting joy) upon their heads; 1 they shall obtain sasson (joy) and simchah (gladness), 1 and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
