Isaiah 41
Keep silence before Me, O iyim (islands); 1 and let the people renew their ko'ach (strength); 1 let them come near; 1 then let them speak; let us come near together for mishpat (judgment, i.e., G-dʼs tribunal). 1
Who awakened the just one + 41:2 Koresh, Cyrus 44:28 from the mizrach (east), 1 called him to His raglayim, 1 gave the Goyim before him, 1 and made him rule over melachim? 1 He gave them as the aphar to his + 41:2 the conquerorʼs cherev, 1 and as windblown kash (chaff, stubble) to his + 41:2 the conquerorʼs keshet (bow). 1
He + 41:3 the conqueror pursues them, 1 and passes on in shalom, even by the orach (path) 1 that his feet do not even come. 1
Who hath wrought and done it, 1 calling forth the dorot from the beginning? 1 I Hashem, the Rishon (First), 1 and with the Acharonim (Last ones); I am He. 1
The iyim (islands) saw it, and feared; 1 the ketzot ha'aretz (ends of the earth) trembled; 1 they approached and came near. 1
They helped everyone his re'a; 1 and everyone said to his brother, chazak! 1
So the charash (craftsman) encouraged the tzoref (goldsmith), 1 and he that smootheth with the patish (hammer) 1 encouraged him that strikes the anvil, 1 saying of the soldering, tov hu; 1 and he fastened it with nails, 1 so that it should not topple. 1
But thou, Yisroel, art Avdi, 1 Ya'akov whom I have chosen, 1 the zera Avraham Ohavi (My friend). 1
Thou whom I have taken hold of from the ketzot ha'aretz, 1 and called thee from the farthest borders thereof, 1 and said unto thee, Thou art Avdi; 1 I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. 1
Fear thou not; for I am with thee; 1 be not dismayed; for I am Eloheicha; 1 I will strengthen thee; indeed, I will help thee; 1 indeed, I will uphold thee with My yamin tzedek. 1
Surely, all they that were raging against thee 1 shall be ashamed and disgraced; 1 they shall be as nothing; 1 and the anshei rivecha (they that strive with thee) shall perish. 1
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, 1 even the anshei matzutecha (them that contended with thee): 1 the anshei milchamtecha (they that war against thee) shall be as nothing, 1 and as a thing of naught. 1
For I Hashem Eloheicha 1 will take hold of thy yamin (right hand), 1 saying unto thee: 1 Fear not; I will help thee. 1
Fear not, thou tola'at (worm) Ya'akov, and ye men of Yisroel; 1 I will help thee, saith Hashem, 1 and thy Go'el (Redeemer), the Kadosh Yisroel. 1
Hinei, I will make thee a new sharp threshing iron 1 having pifiyyot (blades); 1 thou shalt thresh the harim, and beat them small, 1 and shalt make the geva'ot (hills) as motz (chaff). 1
Thou shalt winnow them, 1 and the ruach shall carry them away, 1 and the se'arah shall scatter them; 1 and thou shalt rejoice in Hashem, 1 and shalt glory in Kadosh Yisroel. 1
When the aniyim and evyonim seek mayim, and there is none, 1 and their leshon faileth for tzama (thirst), 1 I Hashem will hear them, 1 I the Elohei Yisroel will not forsake them. 1
I will open neharot on the hilltops, 1 and springs in the midst of the valleys; 1 I will make the midbar a pool of mayim, 1 and the dry land sources of mayim. 1
I will plant in the midbar the cedar, 1 the acacia, and the myrtle, and the etz shemen; 1 I will set in the Aravah the cypress, 1 and the fir, and the box tree together; 1
So that they may see, and know, 1 and consider, and understand together, 1 that the Yad Hashem hath done this, 1 and the Kadosh Yisroel hath created it. 1
Present your case, saith Hashem; 1 bring forth your strong arguments for proof, saith Melech Ya'akov. 1
Let them bring them forth, 1 and tell us what shall happen; 1 let them tell the rishonot (former things), what they are, 1 that we may consider them, 1 and know the acharit (latter end, final outcome) of them; 1 or declare us things to come. 1
Tell the things that are to come hereafter, 1 that we may know that ye are elohim; 1 indeed, do tov, or do rah, 1 that we may be afraid, and terrified. 1
See, ye are of nothing, 1 and your work of nought; 1 a toevah (abomination) is he that chooseth you. 1
I have awakened one + 41:25 Koresh, Cyrus from the tzafon (north), and he shall come; 1 from the rising of the shemesh shall he call upon My Shem; 1 and he shall come upon rulers as upon mortar, 1 and as the yotzer (potter) treadeth clay. 1
Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? 1 And from beforehand, that we may say, He was in the right? 1 Indeed, there is none that telleth, 1 indeed, there is none that preacheth, 1 indeed, there is none that heareth your words. 1
The rishon shall say to Tziyon, Hinei, behold them; 1 and I will give to Yerushalayim mevaser (one that bringeth good news). 1
For I beheld, and there was no ish; 1 even among them, and there was no Yo'etz (counselor), 1 that, when I asked of them, 1 could answer a word. 1
See, they + 41:29 the idols are all aven (wickedness); 1 their ma'asim are nothing; 1 their molten images are ruach and tohu.
