Isaiah 25
Hashem, Thou art Elohai; 1 I will exalt Thee, 1 I will praise Shimecha; 1 for Thou hast done peleh; + 25:1 See Isa 9:6 [5] 1 Thy etzot (plans) of old 1 are emunah omen (perfect faithfulness). 1
For Thou hast made an Ir a heap; 1 a fortified city, 1 a ruin; 1 the stronghold of the zarim (foreigners) to be rebuilt never more. 1
Therefore even the am oz (strong people) shall glorify Thee, 1 the city of the ruthless Goyim shall fear Thee. 1
For Thou hast been a ma'oz (refuge) to the poor, 1 a ma'oz to the evyon in his tzoros, 1 a makheseh (shelter, cover) from the zerem (shower, storm, downpour), 1 a tzel (shade) from the chorev (heat), 1 when the ruach of the ruthless ones 1 is like a zerem (shower, storm, downpour) against a wall. 1
Thou shalt silence the tumult of zarim, 1 as the chorev (heat) in a dry place; 1 even the chorev by the tzel (shadow) of a cloud; 1 the zemir (battle song) of the ruthless ones shall be brought low. 1
And in Har Hazeh + 25:6 i.e., Mount Tziyon shall Hashem Tzva'os make 1 unto kol HaAmim 1 a fat mishteh (feast), 1 a mishteh (feast) of finest, aged wines, 1 of finest meats, 1 of the best wines of finest vintage. 1
And He will destroy in Har Hazeh 1 the pnei hallot (the face of the covering, the [death] shroud) cast over all people, 1 and the masseikhah (overspreading veil) over Kol HaGoyim. 1
He will swallow up HaMavet (death) lanetzach (forever); 1 and Adonoi Hashem will wipe away 1 tears from off kol panim; 1 and the kherpah (shame, disgrace) of His people 1 shall He take away from off kol ha'aretz; 1 for Hashem hath spoken it. 1
And it shall be said in Yom HaHu, 1 Hinei, this is Eloheinu; 1 we have waited for Him, and He will save us; 1 this is Hashem; we have waited for Him, 1 we will be glad and have simcha in His Yeshu'ah (Salvation). 1
For in Har Hazeh + 25:10 i.e., Mount Tziyon shall the Yad Hashem rest, 1 and Moav shall be trodden down under Him, 1 even as straw is trodden down in dung. 1
And He shall spread forth His hands in the midst of them, 1 just as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim; 1 and He shall bring down their ga'avah (pride) 1 together with the arvot (cleverness) of their hands. 1
And the fortification of thy high chomot (walls) 1 shall He bring down, lay low, 1 and bring to the ground, even to the aphar (dust).
