Isaiah 43
1But now thus saith Hashem that created thee, O Ya'akov, 1 And He that formed thee, O Yisroel: 1 Fear not, for I have redeemed thee, 1 I have called thee by thy shem; thou art Mine. 1
2When thou passest through the mayim, I will be with thee; 1 and through the neharot, they shall not overflow thee: 1 when thou walkest through the eish, thou shalt not be burned; 1 neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. 1
3For I am Hashem Eloheicha, 1 the Kadosh Yisroel, thy Moshi'a: 1 I gave Mitzrayim for thy kofer (ransom), 1 Kush and Seva in thy place. 1
4Since thou wast precious in My sight, 1 thou hast been honored, and I have loved thee: 1 therefore will I give adam + 43:4 See Isa 53:8 in exchange for thee, 1 and people in exchange for thy nefesh. 1
5Fear not; 1 for I am with thee: 1 I will bring thy zera from the mizrach (east), 1 and gather thee from the ma'arav (west); 1
6I will say to the tzafon (north), 1 Give them up; and to the teiman (south), 1 hold not back; bring My banim from afar, 1 and My banot from the ketzeh ha'aretz; 1
7Even every one that is called by My Shem, 1 whom I have created for My kavod, 1 whom I have formed and I have made. 1
8Bring forth the Am Ivver that have eyes, 1 and the chereshim that have oznayim. 1
9Let kol HaGoyim be gathered together, 1 and let the peoples be assembled; 1 who among them can declare this, 1 and show us rishonot (former things)? 1 Let them bring forth their edim (witnesses), that they may be vindicated: 1 or let them hear, and say, It is emes. 1
10Ye are My edim (witnesses), saith Hashem. 1 And Avdi whom I have chosen, 1 so that ye may know and believe Me, 1 and understand that Ani Hu (I am He); 1 before Me there was no El formed, 1 neither shall there be after Me. 1
11I, even I, am Hashem; 1 and apart from Me there is no Moshi'a. 1
12I have declared, and have saved, 1 and I have proclaimed, 1 when there was no zar (foreign) [g-d] among you; 1 therefore you + 43:12 plural are My edim (witnesses), saith Hashem, 1 that I am El. 1
13Yes, before the yom was, Ani Hu (I am He); 1 and there is none that can deliver out of My Yad; 1 I work, and who shall reverse it? 1
14Thus saith Hashem, your Go'el, 1 the Kadosh Yisroel; 1 For your sake + 43:14 See Isa 45:4 I have sent to Babylon, 1 and I shall bring down the fugitives, all of them, 1 even the Kasdim (Chaldeans), whose shout of joy is in the ships. 1
15I am Hashem, your Kadosh, t 1 the Boreh Yisroel, your Melech. 1
16Thus saith Hashem, 1 which maketh a derech in the yam, 1 and a path in the mayim azzim (mighty waters); 1
17Which drew out the merkavah and sus, 1 the army and warrior; 1 they shall lie down together, they shall not rise; 1 they are extinct, they are quenched like a wick. 1
18Remember ye not the rishonot (former things) 1 neither consider kadmoniyyot (the things of old). 1
19Hineni, I am doing a chadashah (new thing); 1 now titzmach (it shall spring forth; Tzemach); shall ye not perceive it? 1 I will even make a derech in the midbar, 1 and neharot in the desert. 1
20The animal of the wild shall honor Me, 1 the jackals and the ostriches; 1 because I give mayim in the midbar, 1 and neharot in the desert, 1 to give drink to My People, My Bachir. 1
21This people have I formed for Myself; 1 they shall show forth My tehillah (praise). 1
22But thou hast not called upon Me, O Ya'akov; 1 but thou hast been weary of Me, O Yisroel. 1
23Thou hast not brought Me the seh (lamb) of thy olot; 1 neither hast thou honored Me with thy zevakhim. 1 I have not caused thee to serve with a minchah, 1 nor wearied thee with levonah (incense, frankincense). 1
24Thou hast bought Me no fragrant calamus with kesef, 1 neither hast thou filled Me with the chelev of thy zevakhim; 1 but thou hast wearied Me with thy chattot, 1 thou hast wearied Me with thine avonot. 1
25I, even I, am He that blotteth out 1 thy peysha'im for Mine own sake, 1 and will not remember thy chattot. 1
26Put Me in remembrance; let us plead together at law; 1 declare thou, lema'an (for the sake of) thou being declared righteous. 1
27Avicha HaRishon hath sinned, 1 and thy melitzim (mediators) have rebelled against Me. 1
28Therefore I have profaned the Sarei Kodesh, (Holy Princes) 1 and have given Ya'akov to cherem, 1 and Yisroel to giddufim (revilings).
