Isaiah 45

Thus saith Hashem to His Moshiach, 1 to Koresh (Cyrus), whose yamin (right hand) I have taken hold of, 1 to subdue Goyim before him; 1 and the loins of melachim I ungird, 1 to open before him the double doors and the she'arim (gates), 1 that they may not continue shut; 1

I will go before thee, 1 and make straight the crooked paths; 1 I will break down the delatot nechoshet, 1 and cut through their barzel (iron) bars; 1

And I will give thee the otzarot choshech, 1 and hidden riches of mistarim (secret places) 1 that thou mayest know that I, Hashem, 1 Who call thee by thy shem (name), am Elohei Yisroel. 1

For the sake of avdi Ya'akov, 1 and Yisroel My Bachir, 1 I have even called thee by thy shem (name); 1 I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known Me. 1

I am Hashem, and there is none other, 1 there is no Elohim besides Me; 1 I equipped thee, though thou hast not known Me; 1

That they may know from the rising of the shemesh, 1 even to the ma'arav (west, setting place of the sun), 1 that there is none apart from Me. 1 I am Hashem, and there is no other. + 45:6 Elohim 1

I form ohr, and create choshech; 1 I make shalom, and create rah; 1 I Hashem worketh all these things. 1

Cause [the rain] to trickle down, ye Shomayim, from above, 1 and let the blue sky pour down tzedek; 1 let eretz open, 1 and let Yesha (salvation) blossom, 1 and let tzedakah (righteousness) tatzmiach (spring up; Tzemach) together; 1 I Hashem have created it. 1

Woe unto him that quarreleth with his Yotzer — a potsherd among the potsherds of adamah. 1 Shall the chomer (clay) say to the Yotzer of it, 1 What art Thou making? 1 Or Thy po'al (work) hath no handles? 1

Woe unto him that saith unto his Av: 1 What begettest thou? 1 Or to the isha: 1 What hast thou given birth to? 1

Thus saith Hashem, 1 Kadosh Yisroel, and its Yotzer: 1 Will ye ask Me of otiyyot (things to come, future things) 1 concerning My banim, 1 and will ye command Me regarding the po'al of My hands? 1

I made Eretz, 1 and I created adam upon it; 1 I, even My hands, have stretched out Shomayim, 1 and all their tzeva have I commanded. 1

I have aroused him + 45:13 Cyrus in tzedek, 1 and I will make straight all the darkhei of him; 1 he shall rebuild my city, 1 and he shall release of the Golus of Mine, 1 not for price nor reward, 1 saith Hashem Tzva'os. 1

Thus saith Hashem: 1 The toil of Mitzrayim, and merchandise of Kush 1 and of the Seva'im (Sabeans, those from Seba in Arabia), men of tall stature, 1 shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: 1 they shall come after thee; 1 in chains they shall come over, 1 and they shall cast themselves down unto thee, 1 they shall make supplication unto thee, saying: 1 Surely El (G-d) is with thee; 1 and there is none other, no other Elohim. 1

Verily Thou art El (G-d) that hidest Thyself, 1 O Elohei Yisroel, Moshi'a. 1

They shall be put to shame, and also confounded, all of them; 1 they shall go to confusion together 1 that are charashei tzirim (crafters of images, idols). 1

But Yisroel shall be saved in Hashem 1 with a Teshuat Olamim (an everlasting salvation); 1 ye shall not be ashamed 1 nor confounded ad olemei ad (for all eternity). 1

For thus saith Hashem Borei HaShomayim 1 hu HaElohim Yotzer ha'aretz and its Maker; 1 He hath established it, 1 He created it not tohu (chaos), 1 He formed it to be inhabited; 1 I am Hashem; and there is no other. + 45:18 G-d 1

I have not spoken baseter (in secret), 1 in a makom eretz choshech; 1 I said not unto the zera Ya'akov: 1 Seek ye Me tohu (in chaos); 1 I am Hashem, the One speaking tzedek, 1 proclaiming meisharim (upright things). 1

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, 1 ye that are fugitives escaped of the Goyim; 1 they have no da'as (knowledge, rationality) that burden themselves with their etz pesel (wooden idol), 1 the ones davening to an el lo yoshia (g-d who cannot save). 1

Declare ye, and approach; 1 yes, let them take counsel together. 1 Who hath made this known from mikedem (from olden time)? 1 Who hath preached it from long ago? 1 Have not I, Hashem? 1 And there is no other Elohim besides Me: 1 El Tzaddik and Moshi'a; 1 there is none besides Me. 1

Turn unto Me, and be ye saved, 1 kol afsei Eretz (all the ends of the Earth); 1 I am El (G-d), 1 and there is no other. + 45:22 G-d 1

I have sworn by Myself, 1 the Word has gone out of My mouth of tzedakah (righteousness), 1 and shall not yashuv (return, be revoked), 1 that unto Me kol berekh (every knee) shall bow, 1 kol lashon (every tongue) shall swear. 1

Only in Hashem, it shall be said of Me, 1 is tzedakot and oz; 1 even to Him shall men come; 1 and all that are incensed against Him shall be ashamed. 1

Kol zera Yisroel shall yitzdeku (be justified, become righteous) 1 and shall glory in Hashem.
