Isaiah 21
1The massa (burden) concerning the Midbar Yam (desert by the sea): 1 As sufot (whirlwinds) in the Negev sweep through; 1 so it cometh from the midbar, from eretz nora'ah. 1
2A chazut kashah (harsh vision) is declared unto me; 1 the boged (traitor) dealeth treacherously, and the shoded (destroyer) destroyeth. 1 Go up, O Eilam; besiege, O Media; 1 all the groaning she + 21:2 Babylon caused have I made to cease. 1
3Therefore are my loins filled with pain; 1 tzirim (pangs) have taken hold upon me, 1 as the tzirim (pangs) of a woman in labor; 1 I was bowed down at the hearing of it; 1 I was dismayed at the seeing of it. 1
4My lev panted, 1 fearfulness seized upon me; 1 the neshef (twilight) of my longing 1 hath become unto me as kharadah (shuddering horror). 1
5[They are] setting the shulchan, spreading the tzafit (dining carpet), 1 to eat, to drink; 1 arise, ye sarim (princes), and anoint the mogen. 1
6For thus hath Adonoi said unto me, 1 Go, post the metzapeh (watchman), 1 let him report what he seeth. 1
7When he sees riders with a pair of parashim, 1 donkey riders and camel riders, 1 then he pays heed diligently with great care; 1
8And the one seeing cried out, 1 Adonoi, I stand continually on the mitzpeh (watchtower) in the daytime, 1 and I am set in my mishmeret (guard duty) kol halailot (every night), 1
9And, hinei, here cometh a merkavah with a man, 1 a pair of parashim. And he answered and said, 1 Bavel (Babylon) is fallen, is fallen; 1 and all the pesilim (images) of her elohim (g-ds) 1 hath been shattered on the ground. 1
10O my threshed, + 21:10 people and the grain of my goren (threshing floor); 1 that which I have heard of Hashem Tzva'os Elohei Yisroel, 1 have I declared unto you.
11The massa (burden) of Dumah: + 21:11 Edom 1 One calleth to me out of Se'ir, + 21:11 Edom 1 Shomer (watchman), what of the lailah? 1 Shomer, what of the lailah? 1
12The shomer said, The boker cometh, and also the lailah; 1 if ye will inquire, inquire ye; 1 shuvu (return), come.
13The massa (burden) concerning Arabia: 1 In the ya'ar (forest) of Arabia shall ye encamp 1 O ye caravans of Dedanim. 1
14The inhabitants of Eretz Tema brought mayim 1 to him that was tzameh (thirsty), 1 they met with their lechem him that fled. 1
15For they fled from the charavot (swords), 1 from the drawn cherev, 1 and from the bent keshet (bow), 1 and from the grievousness of milchamah (war).
16For thus hath Adonoi said unto me, Within a shanah (year), according to the way a year is counted by a sakhir (hireling, hired servant), all the kavod of Kedar shall end;
17And the remainder of the mispar (number) of archers, the gibborim (mighty men) of the Bnei Kedar, shall be few; for Hashem Elohei Yisroel hath spoken.
