Isaiah 63
Who is this that cometh from Edom, 1 with crimson begadim (garments) from Botzrah? 1 This that is glorious in His apparel, 1 striding in the greatness of His ko'ach? 1 It is I, speaking in tzedakah, 1 mighty to save. 1
Why art Thou adom (red) in Thine apparel, 1 and Thy garments like him that treadeth in the winepress? 1
I have trodden the winepress alone; 1 and of the amim (peoples, nations) there was none with Me; 1 for I will trample them in Mine wrath, + 63:3 i.e., Moshiachʼs work of wrath 1 and trod them down in My fury; 1 and the juice of their life blood splattered upon My garments, 1 and I stained all My raiment. 1
For Yom Nekam (Day of Vengeance) is in Mine lev, 1 and My Shanat Geulah (Year of Redemption) is come. 1
And I looked, 1 and there was no ozer (helper); 1 and I was appalled 1 that there was no supporter; 1 therefore Mine own zero'a wrought Salvation for Me; 1 and My wrath, it upheld Me. 1
And I will trample down the amim (nations) in Mine wrath, 1 and make them drunk in My fury, 1 and I will pour out the juice of their life blood down on the earth. 1
I will rehearse the chasadim (lovingkindnesses) of Hashem, 1 and the tehillot Hashem, 1 according to all that Hashem hath bestowed on us, 1 and the great goodness toward the Bais Yisroel, 1 which He hath bestowed on them according to His rachamim, 1 and according to the multitude of His chasadim. 1
For He said: Surely they are My people, 1 banim that will not be sheker (false); 1 so He became their Moshi'a (Savior). 1
In all their tzoros He was afflicted, 1 and the malach of His presence saved them; 1 in His ahavah and in His mercy 1 He redeemed them; 1 and He lifted them up, 1 and carried them kol y'mei olam. 1
But they rebelled, 1 and grieved His Ruach Hakodesh; 1 therefore He turned against them as oyev (enemy), 1 and He fought against them. 1
Then His people remembered 1 the y'mei olam (days of old), of Moshe. 1 Where is He that brought them up out of the yam (sea) 1 with the ro'im of His tzon? 1 Where is He that put His Ruach Hakodesh 1 in the midst of them? 1
Who led them at the right hand of Moshe 1 with His zero'a tiferet, 1 dividing the mayim before them, 1 to make Himself a Shem Olam? 1
Who led them through the tehomot, 1 like the sus (horse) in the midbar, 1 that they should not stumble? 1
As behemah goeth down into the valley, 1 the Ruach Hashem caused them to rest; 1 thus didst Thou lead Thy people, 1 to make for Thee a Shem Tiferet. 1
Look down from Shomayim, and behold 1 from the habitation of Thy kodesh and of Thy Tiferet. 1 Where is Thy kina (zeal) and Thy gevurah (might)? 1 The yearning of Thy heart and of Thy rachamim 1 are withheld toward me. 1
Doubtless Thou art Avinu, 1 though Avraham not have da'as of us, 1 and Yisroel not acknowledge us; 1 Thou, Hashem, art Avinu, Go'aleinu; 1 Shemecha is from everlasting. 1
Hashem, why hast Thou made us to go astray from Thy drakhim, 1 and hardened libenu (our hearts) from fearing Thee? 1 Shuv (return) l'ma'an (for the sake of) Avadeicha (Thy servants), 1 Shivtei Nachalatecha (the Tribes of Thine Inheritance). 1
Am Kadshecha (People of Thy holiness, Thy Holy People) have possessed it but a little while; 1 our adversaries have trampled down Thy Mikdash. 1
We have become such as them 1 over whom Thou hast never ruled, 1 those who were not called by Shimecha (Thy Name). 1 so that the harim might shake at Thy presence,
