Isaiah 34

Come near, ye Goyim, to hear; 1 and pay heed, ye peoples; 1 let ha'aretz hear, and all that is therein; 1 the tevel (world), and all things that come forth of it. 1

For the ketzef Hashem (wrath of Hashem ) is upon kol HaGoyim, 1 and His chemah (fury, wrath) upon all their tz'va; 1 He hath utterly destroyed them, 1 He hath delivered them to the tevach (slaughter). 1

Their slain also shall be cast out, 1 and their stench shall go up out of their pegarim (corpses), 1 and the harim shall be drenched with their dahm. 1

And kol Tz'va HaShomayim (all the host of heaven) shall be dissolved, 1 and the Shomayim shall be rolled up like a sefer; 1 and all their tz'va shall fall, 1 like the aleh (leaf) falleth from the gefen, 1 like that falling from the te'enah (fig tree). 1

For My cherev shall be satiated in Shomayim; hinei, 1 it shall come down upon Edom, 1 and shall descend on the Am (people) of My Cherem (ban of destruction) in mishpat. 1

The Cherev Hashem (Sword of Hashem ) is filled with dahm, 1 it is gorged with chelev, 1 and with the dahm of lambs and goats, 1 with the chelev of the kidneys of rams; 1 for Hashem hath a zevach in Botzrah, 1 and a tevach gadol in Eretz Edom. 1

And the re'emim (wild oxen) shall fall with them, 1 and the bull calves with the bulls; 1 and their land shall be soaked with dahm, 1 and their aphar (dust) enriched with chelev. 1

For it is the Yom Nakam L' Hashem (Day of Vengeance unto Hashem ), 1 and the Shnat Shillumim (Year of Retributions) for the cause of Tziyon. 1

And the streams thereof + 34:9 i.e., of Edom shall be turned into zefet (pitch, tar), 1 and the aphar (dust) thereof into gofrit (burning sulfur), 1 and the land thereof shall become burning zefet (pitch, tar). 1

It shall not be quenched lailah v'yomam; 1 the ashan (smoke) thereof shall go up l'olam (forever); 1 from dor to dor it shall lie desolate; 1 none shall pass through it l'netzach netzachim. 1

But the desert owl and the screech owl shall possess it; 1 even the yanshuf (great owl) and the orev (raven) shall dwell in it; 1 and He shall stretch out upon it the measuring line of tohu, 1 and the plumbline of vohu. + 34:11 See Gn 1:2 1

For the nobles thereof 1 there shall be nothing to call a maluchah (kingdom) 1 and all her sarim shall come to naught. 1

And sirim (thorns) shall come up in her citadels, 1 nettles and brambles in the strongholds thereof; 1 and it shall become the habitation of jackals, 1 and the abode for banot ya'anah (ostriches). 1

The tziyyim (martens) shall also encounter iyyim (wild cats), 1 and a sa'ir (wild goat) calls to its companion, 1 and lilit (night creature) dwells there 1 and finds for itself a mano'ach (place of rest). 1

There shall the kipoz (bittern) nest, and lay eggs, 1 and hatch and care for young under her tzel; 1 there shall the dayyot (kites, vultures) also be gathered, 1 every one with its mate. 1

Search ye out in the Sefer Hashem, and read; 1 no one of these creatures shall fail, 1 none shall lack her mate; 1 for My mouth hath commanded, 1 and His Ruach hath gathered them. 1

And He hath cast the goral (lot) for them, 1 and His Yad hath made the land assignment unto them by measuring line; 1 they shall possess it ad olam, 1 from dor to dor shall they dwell therein.
