Psalms 106
1Praise ye the Lord. 1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: 1 For his mercy endureth for ever. 1
2Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? 1 Who can shew forth all his praise? 1
3Blessed are they that keep judgment, 1 And he that doeth righteousness at all times. 1
4Remember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: 1 O visit me with thy salvation; 1
5That I may see the good of thy chosen, 1 That I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, 1 That I may glory with thine inheritance. 1
6We have sinned with our fathers, 1 We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. 1
7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; 1 They remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; 1 But provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. 1
8Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, 1 That he might make his mighty power to be known. 1
9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: 1 So he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. 1
10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, 1 And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 1
11And the waters covered their enemies: 1 There was not one of them left. 1
12Then believed they his words; 1 They sang his praise. 1
13They soon forgat his works; 1 They waited not for his counsel: 1
14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, 1 And tempted God in the desert. 1
15And he gave them their request; 1 But sent leanness into their soul. 1
16They envied Moses also in the camp, 1 And Aaron the saint of the Lord. 1
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, 1 And covered the company of Abiram. 1
18And a fire was kindled in their company; 1 The flame burnt up the wicked. 1
19They made a calf in Horeb, 1 And worshipped the molten image. 1
20Thus they changed their glory 1 Into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass. 1
21They forgat God their saviour, 1 Which had done great things in Egypt; 1
22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, 1 And terrible things by the Red sea. 1
23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, 1 Had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, 1 To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. 1
24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, 1 They believed not his word: 1
25But murmured in their tents, 1 And hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord. 1
26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, 1 To overthrow them in the wilderness: 1
27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, 1 And to scatter them in the lands. 1
28They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, 1 And ate the sacrifices of the dead. 1
29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: 1 And the plague brake in upon them. 1
30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: 1 And so the plague was stayed. 1
31And that was counted unto him for righteousness 1 Unto all generations for evermore. 1
32They angered him also at the waters of strife, 1 So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: 1
33Because they provoked his spirit, 1 So that he spake unadvisedly with his lips. 1
34They did not destroy the nations, 1 Concerning whom the Lord commanded them: 1
35But were mingled among the heathen, 1 And learned their works. 1
36And they served their idols: 1 Which were a snare unto them. 1
37Yea, they sacrificed their sons 1 And their daughters unto devils, 1
38And shed innocent blood, 1 Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, 1 Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: 1 And the land was polluted with blood. 1
39Thus were they defiled with their own works, 1 And went a whoring with their own inventions. 1
40Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, 1 Insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. 1
41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; 1 And they that hated them ruled over them. 1
42Their enemies also oppressed them, 1 And they were brought into subjection under their hand. 1
43Many times did he deliver them; 1 But they provoked him with their counsel, 1 And were brought low for their iniquity. 1
44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, 1 When he heard their cry: 1
45And he remembered for them his covenant, 1 And repented according to the multitude of his mercies. 1
46He made them also to be pitied 1 Of all those that carried them captives. 1
47Save us, O Lord our God, 1 And gather us from among the heathen, 1 To give thanks unto thy holy name, 1 And to triumph in thy praise. 1
48Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: 1 And let all the people say, Amen. 1 Praise ye the Lord.
