Psalms 39
I said, I will take heed to my ways, 1 That I sin not with my tongue: 1 I will keep my mouth with a bridle, 1 While the wicked is before me. 1
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; 1 And my sorrow was stirred. 1
My heart was hot within me, 1 While I was musing the fire burned: 1 Then spake I with my tongue, 1
Lord, make me to know mine end, 1 And the measure of my days, what it is; 1 That I may know how frail I am. 1
Behold, thou hast made my days as a handbreadth; 1 And mine age is as nothing before thee: 1 Verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah. 1
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: 1 Surely they are disquieted in vain: 1 He heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. 1
And now, Lord, what wait I for? 1 My hope is in thee. 1
Deliver me from all my transgressions: 1 Make me not the reproach of the foolish. 1
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; 1 Because thou didst it. 1
Remove thy stroke away from me: 1 I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. 1
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, 1 Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: 1 Surely every man is vanity. Selah. 1
Hear my prayer, O Lord, 1 And give ear unto my cry; 1 Hold not thy peace at my tears: 1 For I am a stranger with thee, 1 And a sojourner, as all my fathers were. 1
O spare me, that I may recover strength, 1 Before I go hence, and be no more.
