Psalms 37

(א) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, 1 Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 1

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, 1 And wither as the green herb. 1

(ב) Trust in the Lord, and do good; 1 So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 1

Delight thyself also in the Lord; 1 And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 1

(ג) Commit thy way unto the Lord; 1 Trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 1

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, 1 And thy judgment as the noonday. 1

(ד) Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: 1 Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, 1 Because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 1

(ה) Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: 1 Fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 1

For evildoers shall be cut off: 1 But those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. 1

(ו) For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: 1 Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 1

But the meek shall inherit the earth; 1 And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 1

(ז) The wicked plotteth against the just, 1 And gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 1

The Lord shall laugh at him: 1 For he seeth that his day is coming. 1

(ח) The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, 1 To cast down the poor and needy, 1 And to slay such as be of upright conversation. 1

Their sword shall enter into their own heart, 1 And their bows shall be broken. 1

(ט) A little that a righteous man hath 1 Is better than the riches of many wicked. 1

For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: 1 But the Lord upholdeth the righteous. 1

(י) The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: 1 And their inheritance shall be for ever. 1

They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: 1 And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 1

(כ) But the wicked shall perish, 1 And the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: 1 They shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. 1

(ל) The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: 1 But the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. 1

For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; 1 And they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. 1

(מ) The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: 1 And he delighteth in his way. 1

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: 1 For the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. 1

(נ) I have been young, and now am old; 1 Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, 1 Nor his seed begging bread. 1

He is ever merciful, and lendeth; 1 And his seed is blessed. 1

(ס) Depart from evil, and do good; 1 And dwell for evermore. 1

For the Lord loveth judgment, 1 And forsaketh not his saints; 1 (לע) They are preserved for ever: 1 But the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. 1

The righteous shall inherit the land, 1 And dwell therein for ever. 1

(פ) The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, 1 And his tongue talketh of judgment. 1

The law of his God is in his heart; 1 None of his steps shall slide. 1

(צ) The wicked watcheth the righteous, 1 And seeketh to slay him. 1

The Lord will not leave him in his hand, 1 Nor condemn him when he is judged. 1

(ק) Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, 1 And he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: 1 When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. 1

(ר) I have seen the wicked in great power, 1 And spreading himself like a green bay tree. 1

Yet he passed away, and lo, he was not: 1 Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. 1

(ש) Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: 1 For the end of that man is peace. 1

But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: 1 The end of the wicked shall be cut off. 1

(ות) But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: 1 He is their strength in the time of trouble. 1

And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: 1 He shall deliver them from the wicked, 1 And save them, because they trust in him.
