Psalms 22
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 1 Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 1
O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; 1 And in the night season, and am not silent. 1
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 1
Our fathers trusted in thee: 1 They trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 1
They cried unto thee, and were delivered: 1 They trusted in thee, and were not confounded. 1
But I am a worm, and no man; 1 A reproach of men, and despised of the people. 1
All they that see me laugh me to scorn: 1 They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 1
He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: 1 Let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. 1
But thou art he that took me out of the womb: 1 Thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts. 1
I was cast upon thee from the womb: 1 Thou art my God from my mother’s belly. 1
Be not far from me; for trouble is near; 1 For there is none to help. 1
Many bulls have compassed me: 1 Strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 1
They gaped upon me with their mouths, 1 As a ravening and a roaring lion. 1
I am poured out like water, 1 And all my bones are out of joint: 1 My heart is like wax; 1 It is melted in the midst of my bowels. 1
My strength is dried up like a potsherd; 1 And my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; 1 And thou hast brought me into the dust of death. 1
For dogs have compassed me: 1 The assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: 1 They pierced my hands and my feet. 1
I may tell all my bones: 1 They look and stare upon me. 1
They part my garments among them, 1 And cast lots upon my vesture. 1
But be not thou far from me, O Lord: 1 O my strength, haste thee to help me. 1
Deliver my soul from the sword; 1 My darling from the power of the dog. 1
Save me from the lion’s mouth: 1 For thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. 1
I will declare thy name unto my brethren: 1 In the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. 1
Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; 1 All ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; 1 And fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. 1
For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; 1 Neither hath he hid his face from him; 1 But when he cried unto him, he heard. 1
My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: 1 I will pay my vows before them that fear him. 1
The meek shall eat and be satisfied: 1 They shall praise the Lord that seek him: 1 Your heart shall live for ever. 1
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: 1 And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 1
For the kingdom is the Lord’s: 1 And he is the governor among the nations. 1
All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: 1 All they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: 1 And none can keep alive his own soul. 1
A seed shall serve him; 1 It shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. 1
They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness 1 Unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
