Psalms 2
Why do the heathen rage, 1 And the people imagine a vain thing? 1
The kings of the earth set themselves, 1 And the rulers take counsel together, 1 Against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, 1
Let us break their bands asunder, 1 And cast away their cords from us. 1
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: 1 The Lord shall have them in derision. 1
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, 1 And vex them in his sore displeasure. 1
Yet have I set my king 1 Upon my holy hill of Zion. 1
I will declare the decree: 1 The Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; 1 This day have I begotten thee. 1
Ask of me, 1 And I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, 1 And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 1
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; 1 Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. 1
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: 1 Be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 1
Serve the Lord with fear, 1 And rejoice with trembling. 1
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, 1 And ye perish from the way, 1 When his wrath is kindled but a little: 1 Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
