Psalms 72

Give the king thy judgments, O God, 1 And thy righteousness unto the king’s son. 1

He shall judge thy people with righteousness, 1 And thy poor with judgment. 1

The mountains shall bring peace to the people, 1 And the little hills, by righteousness. 1

He shall judge the poor of the people, 1 He shall save the children of the needy, 1 And shall break in pieces the oppressor. 1

They shall fear thee as long as the sun 1 And moon endure, throughout all generations. 1

He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: 1 As showers that water the earth. 1

In his days shall the righteous flourish; 1 And abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. 1

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, 1 And from the river unto the ends of the earth. 1

They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; 1 And his enemies shall lick the dust. 1

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: 1 The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. 1

Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: 1 All nations shall serve him. 1

For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; 1 The poor also, and him that hath no helper. 1

He shall spare the poor and needy, 1 And shall save the souls of the needy. 1

He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: 1 And precious shall their blood be in his sight. 1

And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: 1 Prayer also shall be made for him continually; 1 And daily shall he be praised. 1

There shall be a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; 1 The fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: 1 And they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth. 1

His name shall endure for ever: 1 His name shall be continued as long as the sun: 1 And men shall be blessed in him: 1 All nations shall call him blessed. 1

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, 1 Who only doeth wondrous things. 1

And blessed be his glorious name for ever: 1 And let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. 1

The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
