Psalms 137

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, 1 When we remembered Zion. 1

We hanged our harps 1 Upon the willows in the midst thereof. 1

For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; 1 And they that wasted us required of us mirth, 1 Saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 1

How shall we sing the Lord’s song 1 In a strange land? 1

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, 1 Let my right hand forget her cunning. 1

If I do not remember thee, 1 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; 1 If I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. 1

Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; 1 Who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof. 1

O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; 1 Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee 1 As thou hast served us. 1

Happy shall he be that taketh 1 And dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
