Psalms 124

1If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, 1 Now may Israel say; 1

2If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, 1 When men rose up against us: 1

3Then they had swallowed us up quick, 1 When their wrath was kindled against us: 1

4Then the waters had overwhelmed us, 1 The stream had gone over our soul: 1

5Then the proud waters 1 Had gone over our soul. 1

6Blessed be the Lord, 1 Who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. 1

7Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: 1 The snare is broken, and we are escaped. 1

8Our help is in the name of the Lord, 1 Who made heaven and earth.
