Psalms 59
Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: 1 Defend me from them that rise up against me. 1
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, 1 And save me from bloody men. 1
For lo, they lie in wait for my soul: 1 The mighty are gathered against me; 1 Not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord. 1
They run and prepare themselves without my fault: 1 Awake to help me, and behold. 1
Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, 1 Awake to visit all the heathen: 1 Be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. 1
They return at evening: 1 They make a noise like a dog, 1 And go round about the city. 1
Behold, they belch out with their mouth: 1 Swords are in their lips: 1 For who, say they, doth hear? 1
But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; 1 Thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. 1
Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: 1 For God is my defence. 1
The God of my mercy shall prevent me: 1 God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies. 1
Slay them not, lest my people forget: 1 Scatter them by thy power; 1 And bring them down, O Lord our shield. 1
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips 1 Let them even be taken in their pride: 1 And for cursing and lying which they speak. 1
Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: 1 And let them know that God ruleth in Jacob 1 Unto the ends of the earth. Selah. 1
And at evening let them return; 1 And let them make a noise like a dog, 1 And go round about the city. 1
Let them wander up and down for meat, 1 And grudge if they be not satisfied. 1
But I will sing of thy power; 1 Yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: 1 For thou hast been my defence 1 And refuge in the day of my trouble. 1
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: 1 For God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
