Psalms 102
(A tefillah of one afflicted; when he is faint, he pours out his si'akh [complaint] before Hashem) 1
Hear my tefillah, Hashem, 1 and let my cry for help come unto Thee. 1
Hide not Thy face from me in the yom tzar (day of distress); 1 incline Thine ear unto me; 1 in the yom when I call, answer me speedily. 1
For my yamim are consumed like ashan (smoke), 1 and my atzmot burn like a furnace. 1
My lev is struck, and withered like esev; 1 so that I forget to eat my lechem. 1
By reason of the voice of my groaning 1 my atzmot have deveykus to my basar. 1
I am like a bird of the midbar; 1 I am like an owl of the desert. 1
I keep watch, and am like a tzippor (bird) 1 alone upon the gag (housetop, roof). 1
Mine oyevim (enemies) reproach me kol hayom; 1 and they that revile me curse by me. 1
For I have eaten ashes like lechem, 1 and mingled my drink with tears. 1
Because of Thine za'am (indignation) and Thy ketsef (wrath, anger); 1 for Thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. 1
My days are like a tzel (shadow) that lengtheneth; 1 and I am withered like esev (grass). 1
But Thou, Hashem, shall endure l'olam; 1 and Thy memory unto dor vador. 1
Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Tziyon; 1 for the time to favor her, 1 the mo'ed (set time, appointed time) has come. 1
For Thy avadim cherish her avanim (stones), 1 and pity her aphar. 1
So the Goyim shall fear the Shem Hashem, 1 and all the melachim of ha'aretz will revere Thy glory. 1
When Hashem shall build up Tziyon, 1 He shall appear in His Kavod. 1
He will regard the tefillah of the destitute, 1 and not despise their tefillah. 1
This shall be written for a dor acharon (future generation); 1 and the people which shall be created shall praise Hashem. 1
For He hath looked down from the height of His Kodesh; 1 from Shomayim did Hashem behold Eretz; 1
To hear the groaning of the asir (prisoner); 1 to release those that are bnei temutah (men + 102:21 appointed to death); 1
To declare the Shem Hashem in Tziyon, 1 and His tehillah (praise) in Yerushalayim; 1
When the peoples are gathered together in assembly, 1 and the mamlachot (kingdoms), to serve Hashem. 1
He bowed down my ko'ach in the derech; 1 He cut short my yamim. 1
I said, O my G-d, 1 take me not away in the midst of my yamim; 1 Thy years are dor dorim (throughout all generations). 1
Of old hast Thou laid the foundation of ha'aretz; 1 and Shomayim is the ma'aseh (work) of Thy hands. 1
They shall perish, but Thou shalt remain; 1 and all of them shall wear out like a beged (garment); 1 like a vesture shalt Thou change them, and they shall be changed; 1
But Thou art the same, 1 and Thy shanot (years) shall have no end. 1
The children of Thy avadim shall dwell, 1 and their zera shall be established before Thee.
