Psalms 22
(For the one directing. To the Deer of the Dawn. Mizmor Dovid) 1
Eli, Eli, lamah azavtani? + 22:2 See Mt 27:46 1 Why art Thou so far from my yeshu'ah, and from the words of my groaning? 1
Elohai, I cry yomam, but Thou hearest not; 1 and v'lailah, and am not silent. 1
But Atah Kadosh, 1 O Thou enthroned on the tehillot Yisroel. 1
Avoteinu trusted in Thee; 1 they had bitachon, and Thou didst deliver them. 1
They cried unto Thee, and were delivered; 1 they had bitachon in Thee, and were not disappointed. 1
But I am a tola'at, and no ish; 1 a reproach of men, and despised of the people. + 22:7 See Isa 53:3 on the despised Moshiach 1
All they that see me mock me; 1 they shoot out the lip, they shake the rosh, saying, 1
He trusted in Hashem; 1 let Hashem rescue him; let Him deliver him, since He delights in him. 1
But Thou art He that took me out of the womb; 1 Thou didst make me trust when I was upon the breasts of immi. 1
I was cast upon Thee from the womb; 1 Thou art Eli from the womb of immi. 1
Be not far from me; 1 for tzoros is near; and there is none to help. 1
Parim rabbim (many bulls) have encompassed me; 1 strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round about. 1
They opened wide their mouths upon me, 1 like an aryeh roaring and tearing prey. 1
I am poured out like mayim, 1 and all my atzmot are out of joint; 1 my lev is like wax; 1 it is melted away within me. 1
My ko'ach is dried up like baked clay; 1 and my leshon cleaveth to my jaws; 1 and Thou layest me in the aphar mavet (dust of death). 1
For kelavim have surrounded me; 1 the Adat Mere'im (congregation of evil men) have enclosed me; 1 KA'ARU YADAI V'RAGELAI (they pierced my hands and my feet). + 22:17 See Isa 53:5; Zech 12:10 and medieval Hebrew Scripture manuscripts as well as the Targum HaShivim 1
I can count all my atzmot; 1 the people stare and gloat at me. 1
They divide up my garments among them, 1 and for my clothing they cast goral (lots). + 22:19 Mt 27:35; Lk 23:34; Yn 19:24 1
But be not Thou far from me, Hashem; 1 O my strength, hasten Thee to help me. 1
Deliver my nefesh from the cherev, 1 my yechid (only one, only) [nefesh] from the power of the kelev (dog). 1
Hoshieini from the mouth of the aryeh; 1 for Thou hast heard me from the karnayim of the wild bulls. 1
I will declare Thy Shem unto my Achim; 1 in the midst of the Kahal will I praise Thee. 1
Ye that fear Hashem, praise Him; 1 all ye Zera Ya'akov, give Him kavod; 1 and fear Him, all ye Zera Yisroel. 1
For He hath not despised 1 nor disdained the enut ani (affliction of the afflicted); 1 neither hath He hid His face from him; 1 but when he cried unto Him, He heard. 1
My tehillah shall be from Thee in the Kahal Rav; 1 I will fulfill my nedar before them that fear Him. 1
The anavim (meek) shall eat and be satisfied; 1 they that seek Him shall praise Hashem. 1 Let your levav live forever! 1
All the ends of HaAretz shall remember 1 and turn unto Hashem; 1 and all the mishpechot of the Goyim 1 shall bow down in worship before Thee. 1
For the Meluchah is Hashemʼs: 1 and He is the Moshel over the Goyim. 1
All they that thrive upon HaAretz 1 shall eat and worship; 1 all they that go down to the aphar (dust) shall bow before Him; 1 even he who cannot keep alive his own nefesh. 1
Zera shall serve Him; 1 it shall be told to the generation [to come] concerning Adonoi. 1
They shall come, and shall declare His tzedek 1 unto an Am Nolad (a [future] people that shall be born), 1 that He hath done this.
