Psalms 77

(For the one directing. Set to Yedutun. Mizmor of Asaph) 1

I cried unto Elohim with my voice, 1 even unto Elohim with my voice; and He gave ear unto me. 1

In my yom tzoros (day of trouble) I sought Adonoi; 1 my hand was stretched up in the lailah, and ceased not; 1 my nefesh refused to be comforted. 1

I remembered Elohim, and groaned; 1 I pondered, and my ruach was overwhelmed. 1 Selah 1

Thou holdest mine eyelids awake; 1 I am so troubled that lo adaber (I cannot speak). 1

I have considered the yamim mikedem (days of old), 1 the shnot olamim (years long past). 1

I called to remembrance my neginah balailah (song in the night); 1 I communed with mine own lev; 1 and my ruach pondered with diligent search. 1

Will Adonoi cast off forever? 1 And will He show favor no more? 1

Is His chesed passed away forever? 1 Is His promise at an end l'dor vador? 1

Hath El (G-d) forgotten to be channot (gracious)? 1 Hath He in anger shut up His rachamim (mercy)? 1 Selah 1

And I said, This is my affliction; 1 but I will remember the shanot of the Yemin Elyon (Right Hand of the Most High). 1

I will remember the deeds of Hashem; 1 surely I will remember Thy wonders mikedem (of old, of long ago). 1

I will meditate also on kol po'al (all work) of Thine, 1 and consider Thy mighty deeds. 1

Thy Derech, O Elohim, is bakodesh (in holiness). 1 Who is so gadol El as Elohim? 1

Thou art HaEl oseh peleh (the G-d that doest wonders); 1 Thou hast declared Thy oz (strength) among the amim (peoples, nations). 1

Thou hast with Thine zero'a (strong arm) redeemed Thy people, 1 the Bnei Ya'akov and Yosef. 1 Selah 1

The mayim saw Thee, O Elohim, 1 the mayim saw Thee; they were afraid; 1 the tehomot (ocean depths) also writhed. 1

The clouds poured down mayim; 1 the skies resounded in thunder; 1 Thine khitzim (arrows) + 77:18 i.e., lightning bolts also went forth. 1

The voice of Thy thunder was in the galgal (whirlwind); 1 the lightning lit up the tevel (world); 1 ha'aretz trembled and quaked. 1

Thy derech is in the yam (sea), 1 and Thy path is through the mayim rabbim (great waters), 1 and Thy footsteps are not to be discerned. 1

Thou didst lead Thy people like a tzon (flock) 1 by the yad Moshe and Aharon.
