Have mercy upon me, O Elohim, according to Thy chesed; 1 according unto the multitude of Thy rachamim blot out my peysha'im (transgressions, rebellions). 1
Wash me thoroughly from mine avon (iniquity), 1 and cleanse me from my chattat (sin). 1
For I acknowledge my peysha'im (transgressions, rebellions); 1 and my chattat (sin) is ever before me. 1
Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, 1 and done the rah in Thy sight; 1 that Thou mightest be found just when Thou speakest, 1 and be blameless when Thou judgest. 1
Surely, I was brought forth in avon; 1 and in chet did immi conceive me. + 51:7 i.e., I was a sinner from conception 1
Surely Thou desirest emes in the inward parts; 1 and in the inmost place Thou shalt make me to know chochmah. 1
Purge me with ezov (hyssop), 1 and I shall be tahor; 1 wash me, 1 and I shall be whiter than sheleg (snow). 1
Make me to hear sasson and simchah; 1 that the atzmot which Thou hast broken may rejoice. 1
Hide Thy face from my chatta'im, 1 and blot out all mine avonot. 1
Bara + 51:12 Gn 1:1 in me a lev tahor, O Elohim; 1 and renew a ruach nekhon (steadfast spirit) + 51:12 i.e., regeneration Ezek 36:26; Yn 3:3,6 within me. 1
Cast me not away from Thy presence; 1 and take not Thy Ruach Hakodesh from me. 1
Restore unto me the sasson of Thy salvation; 1 and uphold me with a ruach nedivah (a willing spirit). + 51:14 See Jer 31:31-34 1

Save me from damim (bloodguiltiness), 1 O Elohim, Thou Elohei Teshuati; 1 and my leshon shall sing aloud of Thy tzedakah. 1
Adonoi, open Thou my lips; 1 and my mouth shall show forth Thy tehillah (praise). 1
For Thou desirest not zevach (sacrifice); 1 else would I give it; Thou delightest not in olah (burnt offering). 1
The zivkhei Elohim are a ruach nishbarah (broken spirit); 1 a broken and contrite lev, O Elohim, Thou wilt not despise. 1
Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Tziyon; 1 build Thou the chomot Yerushalayim. 1
Then shalt Thou be pleased with zivkhei tzedek (true sacrifices, sacrifices of righteousness), 1 with olah (burnt offering) and whole burnt offering; 1 then shall they offer parim (bulls) upon Thine Mizbe'ach. + 51:21 T.N.
