Psalms 89

(A maskil of Eitan the Ezrachi) 1

I will sing of the mercies of Hashem olam; 1 with my mouth will I make known 1 Thy emunah (faithfulness) to dor vador. 1

For I have said: Chesed shall be built up olam; 1 Thy emunah (faithfulness) shalt Thou establish in Shomayim itself. 1

I have made a Brit with My Bechir (Chosen one), 1 I have sworn unto Dovid Avdi, 1

Thy Zera will I establish ad olam, 1 and build up thy kisse to dor vador. 1 Selah 1

And Shomayim shall praise Thy wonders, O Hashem; 1 Thy emunah (faithfulness) also in the Kahal Kedoshim. 1

For who in the heavens can be compared unto Hashem? 1 Who among the bnei elim can be likened unto Hashem? 1

G-d is greatly to be feared in the sod Kedoshim (council of the holy ones), 1 and is awesome over all them that are around Him. 1

Hashem Elohei Tzva'os, 1 who is like Thee, O Mighty One, Hashem? 1 Thy emunah also surrounds Thee! 1

Thou rulest the raging of the yam; 1 when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them. + 89:10 See Mk 4:41 1

Thou hast broken Rachav in pieces, as one that is slain; 1 Thou hast scattered Thine oyevim with Thy strong Zero'a. 1

Shomayim are Thine, Eretz also is Thine; 1 as for the tevel (world) and the fulness thereof, Thou hast founded them. 1

The tzafon (north) and the yamin (south) Thou hast created them; 1 Tavor and Chermon shall sing for joy in Thy Shem. 1

Thou hast a mighty Zero'a; 1 strong is Thy Yad, and exalted is Thy Yamin. 1

Tzedek and mishpat are the foundation of Thy kisse; 1 chesed and emes shall go before Thy face. 1

Ashrei is the people that know the joyful sound; 1 they shall walk, Hashem, in the ohr (light) of Thy countenance. 1

In Thy Shem shall they rejoice kol hayom; 1 and in Thy tzedakah shall they be exalted. 1

For Thou art the tiferet (splendor, glory) of their strength; 1 and in Thy favor our keren shall be exalted. 1

For Hashem is our mogen; 1 and the Kadosh Yisroel is Malkeinu (our king). 1

Then Thou spoke in chazon (vision) to Thy chasidim, 1 and saidst, I have laid ezer (help) upon one that is mighty; 1 I have exalted one chosen out of the people. 1

I have found Dovid Avdi; 1 with My shemen kadosh (holy oil) meshachtiv (I anointed him); 1

With whom My yad shall be established; 1 Mine zero'a also shall strengthen him. 1

The oyev (enemy) shall not ensnare him; 1 nor the ben avlah (son of wickedness) afflict him. 1

And I will beat down his tzar before his face, 1 and strike down them that hate him. 1

But My emunah (faithfulness) and My chesed shall be with him; 1 and in My Shem shall his keren be exalted. 1

I will set his yad also upon the yam, 1 and his yamin upon the neharot (rivers). 1

He shall cry out unto Me, Thou art Avi, Eli, 1 and the Tzur of my Yeshu'ah (salvation). + 89:27 Mt 16:16 1

Also I will make him My Bechor, 1 elyon (most exalted) of the Malkhei Aretz. 1

My chesed will I be shomer over for him forevermore, 1 and My Brit shall stand unfailing with him. 1

His zera also will I make to endure forever, 1 and his kisse as the days of Shomayim. 1

If his banim forsake My torah, 1 walk not in My mishpatim, 1

If they violate My chukkot, 1 and are not shomer over My mitzvot; 1

Then will I visit their peysha with shevet (rod), 1 and their avon (iniquity) with stripes. 1

Nevertheless My chesed will I not utterly take from him, 1 nor suffer My emunah (faithfulness) to fail. 1

My Brit will I not violate, 1 nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips. 1

Once have I sworn by My Kodesh; 1 I will not lie unto Dovid. 1

His zera shall endure l'olam, 1 and his kisse as the shemesh before Me. 1

It shall be established olam as the yarei'ach, 1 and as an ed ne'eman (a faithful witness) in the heavens. 1 Selah 1

But Thou hast cast off + 89:39 mem-alef-samech, see same word Ps 118:22 and abhorred, 1 Thou hast been in wrath with Thine Moshiach. 1

Thou hast made void the Brit of Thy eved; 1 Thou hast profaned his nezer (diadem) to the ground. 1

Thou hast broken down all his gederot (hedges); 1 Thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin. 1

All that pass by the derech plunder him; 1 he is a cherpah (reproach) to his shchenim. + 89:42 Mt 27:39 1

Thou hast exalted the yamin of his adversaries; 1 Thou hast made all his oyevim to rejoice. 1

Thou hast also turned back the edge of his cherev, 1 and hast not made him to stand in the milchamah. 1

Thou hast made his glory to cease, 1 and cast his kisse down to the ground. 1

The days of his youth hast thou shortened; 1 Thou hast covered him with bushah (shame). 1 Selah 1

How long, Hashem? Wilt Thou hide Thyself lanetzach (forever)? 1 Shall Thy wrath burn like eish? 1

Remember how short my time is. 1 For what vanity hast Thou created kol bnei adam? 1

What gever is he that liveth, and shall not see mavet? 1 Shall he deliver his nefesh from the yad Sheol (power of Sheol)? 1 Selah 1

Adonoi, where are Thy former lovingkindnesses, 1 which Thou didst swear unto Dovid in Thy emunah? 1

Remember, Adonoi, the reproach of Thy avadim; 1 how I do bear in my kheyk (bosom) the reproach of all rabbim amim (many peoples); 1

Wherewith Thine oyevim have reproached, Hashem; 1 wherewith they have reproached the ikkevot (footsteps) of Thine Moshiach. 1

Baruch Hashem l'olam. 1 Omein and Omein.
