Psalms 81
1(For the one directing. On the gittis. Of Asaph) 1
2Sing with joy unto Elohim uzeinu (our strength); 1 make a joyful noise unto Elohei Ya'akov. 1
3Begin a song, and bring hither the tambourine, 1 the pleasant kinnor (harp) with the nevel (lyre). 1
4Blow the shofar at Rosh Chodesh, 1 at the full moon, on Yom Chageinu. 1
5For this was a chok for Yisroel, 1 and a mishpat of the Elohei Ya'akov. 1
6This He ordained in Yosef for an edut, 1 when He went out over Eretz Mitzrayim; 1 where a language of one not known did I hear. 1
7I removed his shekhem (shoulder) from the burden; 1 his hands were delivered from the basket. 1
8In tzoros thou calledst, and I delivered thee; 1 I answered thee in the seter ra'am (secret place of thunder); 1 I tested thee at the waters of Merivah. Selah 1
9Shema, O My people, and I will admonish thee; 1 O Yisroel, if thou wilt pay heed unto Me; 1
10There shall no el zar (strange, foreign g-d) be among thee; 1 neither shalt thou worship any el nechar (foreign g-d). 1
11I am Hashem Eloheicha 1 Who brought thee out of Eretz Mitzrayim; 1 open thy mouth wide, I will fill it. 1
12But My people would not pay heed to My voice; 1 and Yisroel would have none of Me. 1
13So I gave them up 1 unto their own heartsʼ sherirut (stubbornness); 1 and they walked in their own mo'atzot (counsels). 1
14Oh that My people had paid heed unto Me, 1 and Yisroel had walked in My ways! 1
15I should soon have subdued their oyevim 1 and turned My Yad (hand, power) against their adversaries. 1
16The haters of Hashem should have cringed before Him; 1 their et (time, fate, punishment) endures l'olam. 1
17He would have fed them also with the finest of the chittah (wheat); 1 and with devash (honey) from the Tzur would I have satisfied thee.
