Psalms 107
O give thanks unto Hashem, for He is tov; 1 ki l'olam chasdo (for His mercy endureth forever). 1
Let the Geulei Hashem (the redeemed of Hashem ) say so, 1 whom He hath redeemed from the yad tzar; 1
And gathered them out of the lands, 1 from the mizrach (east), and from the ma'arav (west), 1 from the tzafon (north), and from the yam (sea). 1
They wandered in the midbar in a desolate region; 1 they found no derech to an ir moshav (inhabited city). 1
Re'evim (hungry) and tzeme'im (thirsty), 1 their nefesh fainted within them. 1
Then they cried unto Hashem in their tzoros, 1 and He delivered them out of their distresses. 1
And He led them forth by the derech yesharah 1 that they might go to an ir moshav. 1
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, 1 and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam! 1
For He satisfieth the longing nefesh, 1 and filleth the hungry nefesh with the tov. 1
Such as sit in choshech and in tzalmavet, 1 being bound in oni and barzel (iron); 1
Because they rebelled against the words of G-d, 1 and despised the atzat Elyon (counsel of the Most High); 1
Therefore He brought down their lev with amal (toil); 1 they stumbled, and there was no ozer (helper). 1
Then they cried out unto Hashem in their tzoros, 1 and He saved them out of their distresses. 1
He brought them out of choshech and tzalmavet, 1 and broke apart their chains. 1
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, 1 and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam! 1
For He hath broken down the dlatot nechoshet, 1 and cut asunder the bars of barzel (iron). 1
Fools because of their derech peysha, 1 and because of their avonot (iniquities), were afflicted. 1
Their nefesh abhorreth all manner of ochel (food); 1 and they drew near unto the sha'arei mavet (gates of death). 1
Then they cried unto Hashem in their tzoros, 1 and He saveth them out of their distresses. 1
He sent His Davar, and healed them, 1 and delivered them from their destructions. + 107:20 See Yn 1:1 , 14; Mt 4:23 1
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, 1 and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam! 1
And let them sacrifice the zivkhei todah (sacrifices of thanksgiving), 1 and recount His works with joyful singing. 1
They that go down to the yam in oniyot (ships), 1 that do business on mayim rabbim (great waters); 1
These have seen the ma'asei Hashem, 1 and His nifla'ot (wonders) in the deep. 1
For He commandeth, 1 and raiseth up a ruach sa'arah (stormy wind), 1 which lifteth up the galim (waves) thereof. 1
They + 107:26 the galim mount up to Shomayim, 1 they went down again to the tehomot (depths); 1 their nefesh melted in ra'ah (peril, trouble). 1
They reeled and staggered like a shikkor, 1 and were at their witʼs end. 1
Then they cried unto Hashem in their tzoros, 1 and He brought them out of their distresses. 1
He made the sa'arah (storm) a calm, 1 so that the galim (waves) thereof were still. + 107:29 Mk 4:41 1
Then were they glad because they were quiet; 1 so He brought them unto their makhoz chefetz (desired haven, city, district, boundary). 1
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, 1 and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam! 1
Let them exalt Him also in the Kehal Am, 1 and praise Him in the moshav zekenim (council of the elders). 1
He turneth neharot (rivers) into a midbar, 1 and the springs of water into dry ground; 1
An eretz p'ri (fruitful land) into salt wasteland, 1 because of the wickedness of them that dwell therein. 1
He turneth the midbar into an agam (pool, lake) of mayim, 1 and dry ground into springs of water. 1
And there He maketh the hungry to dwell, 1 that they may found an ir moshav (an inhabited city); 1
And sow the sadot, and plant kramim, 1 and acquire p'ri tevu'ah (fruits of increase). 1
He made a brocha on them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; 1 and He doth not permit their behemah to decrease. 1
Again, they are diminished and brought low through otzer (oppression), 1 ra'ah (calamity, peril, trouble) and yagon (sorrow, grief). 1
He poureth contempt upon nedivim (nobles), 1 and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no derech. 1
Yet setteth He the evyon (needy) up above oni (affliction), 1 and maketh him mishpekhot like a tzon (flock). 1
The yesharim (upright ones) shall see it, and rejoice with simchah; 1 and all iniquity shall shut its mouth. 1
Whosoever is chacham, and will be shomer over these things, 1 even they shall understand the chasdei Hashem (lovingkindnesses of Hashem).
