Psalms 41
1(For the one directing, Mizmor of Dovid) 1
2Blessed is he that considereth the helpless; 1 Hashem will deliver him in time of ra'ah (evil, trouble). 1
3Hashem will be shomer over him, and keep him alive; 1 and he shall be blessed in ha'aretz; 1 and Thou wilt not surrender him 1 unto the desire of his enemies. 1
4Hashem will support him upon the sickbed; 1 in his illness, all his bedridden languishing Thou wilt change. + 41:4 i.e., toward recovery 1
5I said, Hashem, channeni (be gracious unto me); 1 heal my nefesh; for I have sinned against Thee. 1
6Mine enemies speak rah (evil) of me: 1 When will he die, and shmo (his name) perish? 1
7And if one cometh to see me, he speaketh falsely; 1 his lev gathereth wickedness to itself; 1 when he goeth lachutz (outside, around) he telleth it. 1
8All that hate me whisper together against me; 1 against me do they devise my hurt. 1
9A thing of beliya'al (a wicked fate), + 41:9 i.e., a terminal illness say they, cleaveth fast unto him, 1 that when he lieth he shall rise up no more. 1
10Yea, mine own ish shalom (familiar friend, close friend), in whom I trusted, 1 which did eat of my lechem, hath lifted up his heel + 41:10 i.e., deceitfully showed enmity against me. + 41:10 See Yn 13:18 1
11But Thou, O Hashem, channeni (be gracious, merciful unto me), 1 and raise me up, that I may repay them. 1
12By this I know that Thou favorest me, 1 because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. 1
13And as for me, Thou upholdest me in mine integrity, 1 and settest me before Thy face l'olam (forever). 1
14Baruch Hashem Elohei Yisroel 1 m'haolam v'ad haolam. 1 Omein and Omein.
